I've seen no talk on here of the planet's biggest stage for womens' fastpitch softball. Seems the USA is steamrolling through the international competition. What have they allowed now? any hits, any runs?? have any games been televised? I think I saw Jenny Finch during the opening ceremony.

well...........yawn. back to my book. :book2:

Don't know if it is because this is the last year for them in the olympics or what but the TV coverage has been almost none exisitant. When they did air a game it was after midnight EST. Worst year I can remember for coverage. I understand the coverage of the glam sports such as Track, Swimming and Gymnastics but everytime I turn it on you get Beach Volley ball, Badminton, Ping Pong, outdoor handball. Who really wants to see that. Just about as boring as soccer. Maybe it's becuase USA is too dominate and it is no suspence in the games

    Wrong EOR...

In the USA vs. Canada game, the Team USA was LUCKY to win it.

In the 1st, Canada scored run on error to CF on Kaitlin Lowe....and then 3 straight illegal pitch rulings on Monica Abbott. (IMO, she does lift foot when she pitches, but nobody ever calls it. This umpire did and she was not happy.) RAIN DELAY in the 3rd....finished game the next day.

Down 1-0 in the 6th inning, USA hit a short fly to RF. The RF'er dove and caught the ball. However, when she was getting up and transferring the ball to throw it in, she dropped it. The umpire ruled that the RF'er dropped the ball and allowed the runner to stay at first. (the scorekeeper ruled it an ERROR!)

After that, Canada fell apart and allowed 4 runs in the 6th, I think, on no hits. USA tacked on more runs in the 7th to put the game away. Truth is, had the umpire gotten that call correct in RF, USA may have lost that game. That game was MUCH closer than the score....

All the games have been televised, at 12 midnight, on CSNBC.

It's sad when you don't get the coverage of the softball games, but the other day they showed the women's marathon for a solid 2 and a half hours.
    Boy.... that was exciting !!!
I was on the edge of my seat the whole time i watched !!

    Yeah....
It's just hard to believe that they are taking softball out of the Olympics.
But, you can watch all the Badminton you care to watch.

    YES....

I never want to see another Beach Volleyball game in my life, I think!
I don't even know why Badminton is an olympic sport, Ping Pong either for that matter. Why can't they show those 3 sports at midnight and later.
I have stayed up and watched every game of softball and to be honest every game with the exception of USA vs Canada was BORING! I like to see competition, and these games have offered no competition.
The baseball game USA vs China however, was downright interesting, very action packed!

The USA softball games have been televised at 8:00pm on channel 756 on DirectTV. Watched Team USA defeat China last night and have watched other games also. Just FYI.

I think the only thing more exciting than watching Badminton, is watching Curling in the winter olympics. Theres just something about watching those "sweepers" sweeping the ice in a sport that is nothing more than glorified shuffleboard.
