If you want to show any kid how the pitch a FP game show her a tape of A Hollowell's performance in game 1 of the WCWS. It was perfection. Was ahead all night. Hit her spots and mixed her pitches. Emphasized that movement is great but ultimately success in pitching is like real estate . .
location, location, location. I'm convinced that even at the college level a pitcher could do quite well with only a fastball and change IF she can spot both pitches wherever and whenever she wants. Of course, this is very tough to do.

    Cat

I read a statement by Cat Osterman this season that she no longer throw fastballs in games.

    No fast balls?

Any pitcher who has Kat's breaking stuff shouldn't throw anything straight. Of course, the last time I looked there was only one pitcher who had Kat's breaking stuff. But I'm sure someone will post that their daughter or pitcher at thier local HS has the same kind of stuff!! When that pitcher has over 2000 K's playing D1 softball then we'll talk.

    pro softball

I know there's a pro league, but it don't get much attention, does it? will Cat Osterman play in it? I read she's the top draft pick but that's never mentioned on the NCAA broadcasts.

    stirring the pot

well this comment might generate some excitement... know why pro ball or even college ball doesn't get any attention? It can't market itself. (just to give you an example the WS was NOT listed anywhere that I could find on the yahoo sports page). Put the women in shorts so that channel surfing men can look at their legs and you might have something. Continue to have them in men's baseball pants and all you will get is a chuckle as they look for whatever men's sport they are interested in or get their attention caught by women's pro beach volleyball or women's tennis. There were plenty of "hotties" on that AZ team.

Please no comments about how we just need to inform them on what a great game FP is. We know that and the casual observer will become a fan but you have to get them hooked first.
