    John Wooten of Eastern Wayne

John Wooten had 2 (three-run) homers last night to lift Eastern Wayne past West Brunswick 6-4! Wooten hit one in the 1st & one in the 5th. Both times, Walker Gourley & Cotton Fulghum were on base. Gourley led off the game with a single & Fulghum added another before Wooten's 1st blast. Boom! 3-0, after 3 batters. Then, in the 5th inning, Gourley hit a two-strike curve down the 1st base line for a double (great at bat) & Fulghum walked. Next up, Wooten again. Down 4-3, Wooten belts another 3-run homer & just like that Eastern Wayne is up 6-4, & steals the momentum away from a very good West Brunswick squad. In the top of the seventh, with one on board, Wooten then strikes out Alex Memory to end the game. Memory had already belted a (3-run homer) of his own in the 4th to give West Brunswick a 4-3 advantage.

Expect more home run heroics in the Eastern Championship Series: Eastern Wayne's fences are set at 310 in left, 325 in right, & 340 in dead center!

Looks like we have another multi-homer, walk off hero - from the News & Record :

"McMichael senior Steven Trent couldn't have picked a better time to find his power stroke.

Trent hit his first two home runs of the season, including a walk-off three-run shot in the bottom of the 7th, to give the Phoenix a 9-6 win over West Stokes on Tuesday night and a berth in the best-of-three NCHSAA 2-A state semifinals this weekend."

Before Trent hit that one, West Stokes' Brian Allen hit his fourth homer in as many playoff games (one in every round) to put West up a run in the top half of the inning.

ahhhh, what the heck.... here's a couple more...last nite's Hoggard game, McDonald hits a 3 run badonkadonk into the night for Rose to take and keep the lead in the first inning. Patrick Roy goes big fly twice and Preston Mobley injured a pedistrian and critically imjured 2 cats with a solo lazer shot out of left. :retard:

Deez, did you hear what Hoggard's coach had to say:

“The difference was our balls were line drives,” said Hoggard coach Jeep St. Ledger. “The balls they were hitting were pop-ups that were leaving. … That’s really what hurt more than anyone else.”

If Chase's homer was a pop-up, I hate to see where it would go if he hit it square....lol!

I know that Wilmington's water tastes different, but this is the second week in a row a team left Greenville defeated, but gave no respect to Rose.

One will receive an ulcer around the shoulda-woulda-coulda's in this game.

I think the better answer would have been, 'They scored more runs....." and leave it at that.

I guess when it was 9-2 it didn't hurt

or when they went through their third pitcher that didn't hurt

MAJOR EDIT of more than 15 lines of witty, objective text meant to inform and educate, but nonetheless decided to delete and leave it all alone.
... :PubDrink: No worries... looking forward to some fun baseball with Sanderson...

BACK to Heroic Homeruns...that was the topic... not whiney coaches...

    Tyler Joyner: 16 Strikeouts!

Joyner throws a masterpiece! 16 strikeouts & gives up only 2 hits. Webb's 1st hit came in the 5th.

Final Score: Northern Nash 6 Webb 0

1 more than he had earlier this season

vs Rocky Mount. TJ is at the top of his game right now. He is simply the best pitcher I have seen this year.
