Ok, who's the players out there starting out the high school season on FIRE? List below...

    I'll start out with 2...

    1) Kyle Seager, SS, Northwest Cabarrus (UNC signee)- after 3 games, hitting just .857, with 5 homeruns and 11 rbi's.

    2) Jay Hosack, P/C, Kannapolis Brown- after 2 games, hitting .714 with 1 homerun, but everything has been hit hard.

Btw, to all the braniacs out there, what is the NC high school state record for homeruns in "consecutive" at-bats? Because right now, Seager has hit 5 bombs in his last 5 consecutive official at-bats with 3 intentional walks scattered in there.

Lets here some other hot starts...

Unofficially, it would appear that Seager has tied the record; see below from the NCHSAA record book on the internet. The following link gives info on what to do if want to inquire or propose that a record has been made:

Thanks EastofRaliegh for the HR info,,,, and btw Seager has hit his 5 HR's over a period of his teams' 1st 3 games, so he has a 3-game streak also.

Btw, interesting to see Luke Little (West Stanly- 40 career) on that list also.

    an early NO-NO

Clayton HS pitching ace Chris Archer, a University of Miami baseball recruit, threw a no-hitter last Friday in the Comets' non-conference victory over Harnett Central, by a score of 6-1.
Archer threw only 102 pitches to complete the seven-inning game. He struck out 13 batters and walked four. HC's only run came in via two walks and one error.

BTW, isn't it pretty rare for the baseball factory at Miami to pick up a NC player out of HS? Pretty good boost for NC baseball.

Who's hot - SW Randolphs' Ethan Marsh

Southwestern Randolphs LF Ethan Marsh has a .652 (15/23) average through 7 games with 2HR and a load of doubles. With 4.14 speed out the right side box to 1st and a 6.77 60, to go with a cannon for an outfield arm, the kid is far from one dimensional, and has to be one of the top unknown juniors in the state (I say unknown though Stetson University has made it known he's one of their top recruits for 2007). Good job Ethan!:229031_ha
