    Because I Asked

Greenwood was made up of an all volunteer group which were not paid any of the entry fees, only a portion of the gate fees (which according to them, they did not set), and all of the concessions (which I DID NOT boycott because like me, they were just there for their kids).

Though there were problems...Lord knows there were problems, I cannot hold the Greenwood Park accountable for all of them. I found the ladies at the gate friendly and helpful, and everyone associated with the park nice. The only time I saw anyone getting ugly was when someone thought it was okay to circumvent the fees or rules which I was having to follow.

Having been associated with rec ball, travel ball, high school ball, and college ball, I am ashamed of some of our fellow parents for the examples they set for their daughters.

Mom, Dad, and just one sibling = $108 admission to see daughter play not counting hotel, gas, food for 4 days trying to sneak a couple of bottles of water in where it is 100 degrees. Somehow I don't see that as a bad example. The bad example comes from those trying to bleed these poor people dry.

The bad example for which I speak is the parents cursing at people and getting in their face and making counterfeit tickets to circumvent people like you and I who spent a fortune in entry fees, travel expenses, and admissions. My point is that I am ashamed that the Greenwood Baseball Park now has a bad impression of our community.

I agree no need to curse and get in people's faces. The rules should have been clear to folks before they attended and for many it was not their first time so they should have known what to expect and not take it out on the people working. But, I got to at least give those that tried to counterfeit tickets an "A" for effort. That is a new one to me.

I needed to edit after reading the fishman and cheeze. Too much snot has been tossed about this tournament. The bright side is my DD had a good time and I am in it for her.

    worth the money

Getting your kid on a college roster can be very hard on your pockets and your ego. It can be very difficult fighting politics, travel expenses, team expenses, and all of us parents can get crazy at times. I am now on my 3rd tour and I have lost my mind and money. LOL! It is alot more of a business now than it was 5 years ago. Heck people then thought the coaches would line up at high school games and a few did. Bottom line is your kid has too truly love the game too make it at the college level. Talk too your kid and make sure it truly what she wants before you spend all that money just trying too make it. It is a long shot. That being said all the money I have spent has been worth every moment that i have spent with my daughters at the ball field having great times and learning life long lessons. If you do have one that makes it too college it is much more difficult. My daughter has had the time of her life and for that I am grateful.
