To try to get something positive from this tournament, if you make the people mad from the very start, nothing after that is going to be good!

It sounds like apologies are due the volunteers. They didn't get the money, they are there for the kids, also.

When that many people are that upset, something is wrong! It doesn't seem quite fair to poop on the people and then call THEM the A-HOLES.

I would like to say that Florence is, and always has been my favorite tournament (because of the spacing of time, and the format). The only negative I saw was the rain, and that happens every year, but is out of our control). Those fields do drain better than any I have ever seen though. More grounds crew would be great. Or, just have a push broom and a bucket of sand for every girl, and play could resume quickly.

I thought the umpires were great for the most part, better than normal. Also, we were pleased with the college coaches and their interest in watching games.

Unless I am mistaken, North Carolina Fast Pitch is alive and well. I hope it was the Cards and Blues in the Championship.

As far as the watered down comment, I will repeat that it is the silliest notion in the world. Everybody works hard in their own way. For you guys to put that down is just not right. Whoever made you guys the judge of who is worthy of competing or not, I guess yall are smarter and better than the rest. We need more kids, and we definitely need more pitchers! Put 'em all out there, and play ball.

As far as the money goes, if you don't want to spend it, don't go. The city, parks, or whoever is making the money should treat their guests like they want them to come back, however.

Do you really think that park made any money? They probably put more into allowing my daughter to play on their fields and bat in their cages than they made the entire tournament. Maybe (just maybe) they were there the entire time VOLUNTEERING for the betterment of their park and NOT for the All-Mighty Dollar. All of our teams would be honored to have volunteers like them (and luckily, my daughter's team does).

I guess my philosophy (the one I have tried to teach my children) is to find the positive in the experience. Thank you Greenwood Park.

At $9 a head I would say someone made some money! That's about $18 to $36 per family per day!

The volunteers are to be commended. They are blameless.

It's not the park, the park, the park; it's somebody. And those who feel wronged want to know why mostly.

You betcha somebody made some money, because it is a BUSINESS. To the people that feel wronged there is no answer as to why at least not the answer you want to hear. As long as there are those willing to give it there will always be those willing to take it.

Sounds like the Bandits had one heck of a fundraiser.

Sportsphan wrote: I have been reading alot of post about the Hot Time Classic in Florence this past weekend, boy you guys are a bunch of PRIMA DONNA'S!!!!! You really don't understand how these things work do you, you have NO CLUE!! First of all you shouldn't take it out on the volunteers that work the fields, they do not set the prices or the policies they just have to enforce them and put up with all of the crap from you A-HOLES!!! They allow you to use their fields and do their best to keep them in playing condition for your kids only for you to destroy the fields and equipment and trash the park!! I was out there and heard alot of the comments, I thought the parks at Greenwood were outstanding and from what I learned they are kept up mainly by a handful of volunteering parents of the baseball league that want the best for their kids, with not alot of help from the county which actually owns the fields. I though the covered batting cages were AWESOME!!!! And the were bought and built by these volunteers NOT the county. It was nice to be able to go and take batting practice during the rain storms and not get wet. I saw many people taking tickets and passing them through the fences to others so they could get in for free, what kind of example are you setting for your kids, HOW TO STEAL!!! I don't disagree that the $9 fee was high, but it was not set by these volunteers that you people were so rude to, it was set by the tournament directors, how many of you have called and cussed them out?? These volunteers put up with more CRAP from grown adults who acted less mature than the girls playing in the tournament, quite frankly if I were one of them I would have locked the gates and told you to go find somewhere else to destroy and trash! I don't think you need to worry about it anymore because I don't think they would have you SPOILED BRAT (ADULTS) back at their nice facility, I know I wouldn't!

To the volunteers of Greenwood Athletic Park, you have a Class A Facility you should be very proud of and speaking for myself, it was a pleasure playing at your facility and I thank you for all of the hard work you did to make the tournament happen and apologize for all of the CRAP you had to put up with from the A-HOLES from the other teams!!! Thank you again for the long hours and hard work you put in during the 4 days of the tournament and those you put in prior to the tournament getting the fields ready.

From reading what you posted, there were 3 things that came to mind.
    1). You were'nt there.
    2). You are blind.
3). You are part of the Bandits organization.

The biggest pet peeve's were the $9 gate fees and no coolers and still you have the gall to call us a__holes when you are ASSUMING that we cussed out the volunteers. You have a handfull of posters here complaing about the conditions of the tournament. These same people who traveled from Fla, Georgia, NC, SC, etc paying for hotels, food, entry fees and then getting fleeced by the people running the tournament and you call us a__holes. Go check out the way the Cardinals, Challengers and other teams holding tournaments, maybe then you will open your eyes and realize what its like and how they treat there fellow softball family.
