    Congrats Cody

It cost me a marker I had with a friend out west BUT I was finally able to find out that this no hitter was thrown by Cody Poarch of South Caldwell. Second varsity start!!......that is FUNTASTIC.

    My boys.....

Swain got to play their first today, won 11-1. What was great to see was 3 times with runner on 3rd and less than 2 outs, 2 ground balls to second and a sac fly to right center to plate the runs. Watching them, I was proud of the way they executed out of the blocks.

On a personal note, son pitched 1 inning, 4 pitches, 3 outs on 3 ground balls.

    Good day for Dad

Both of my boys made me proud yesterday. My oldest is a sophomore at Blue Ridge Comm Coll and has gotten off to a slow start. He has been working hard to fix his weaknesses in his swing and it has had his timing all messed up. But yesterday he was 4 for 8 with his 1st HR of the year and it was an oppo grand slam. He is now hitting .302 for the year. He says it was because I had on my lucky tie.

My little one is 7 and he had practice yesterday and after practice the coach had all the other players line up down the 1st base fence to watch Nate field ground balls and throw to 1st so they could see how it is done. This might not seem like much but last year was his 1st playing ball and he would not even try to field a ground ball so he hung out in right field all season and just chased down balls that got by the infielders. This improvement came from big brother playing "wall ball" with him this winter.

    I am a proud Papa.

First time on the field since Tommy John surgery!

Sorry about this but I just have to tell somebody!

My son had TJ surgery last April. He presently is a sophomore playing on the JV team at his school in the SW4A. They played their first game of the season today and he came in the game and pitched for the first time since the surgery! To say the least, I was a nervous wreck considering all that he, his mom and I have gone through since that day last April. He hit the first batter he saw with a 1/2 curve ball, ..... then struck out the next two batters while allowing no hits. I know that it doesn't sound like much, but for all of you that have had a child go through a major surgery, then finally (after all the rehab, doctors visits, etc) reach his goal of playing his sport again, you know the pride that I am feeling for him at this moment. Thanks to all that know he and I, ..... your thoughts and prayers were terrific!:acclaim:

I know it has been a long time coming for you, him and the family. This is a great post. I hope he has a great year.

You must have been tight as a tick when he hit that first batter no?

My baby is playing Varsity and doing well

My youngest son decided to wear his older brothers number in tribute to him. He is off to a great start hitting .400 with 8 rbi's and hit a walk off grand slam in a victory over Starmount. It is very exciting to have one in college and one in high school. Getting tired of the gas bill during the week day games and then the run to Cary to watch UNC. I need OPEC to lower the barrel prices to help out with the baseball I-40 east travelers. Help!!

    Congrats Philly!!!!

I'm sure it was my radar gun that guided him thru. Naw glad for you. I bet you were a nervous wreck especially after having to spend part of your day up here with me listening to my crap...

    Good Luck this week

    Congrats Heels0710

Its very rare to have a talented son such as yours but to have two is very special indeed. Not to mention they are two of the finest young men you would ever want to meet. The first time I saw your younger son play I knew right then and there he was destined to be a terrific ball player.
