    With the start of the 2003 high school year upon us, please continue to list throughout 2003 the area’s early college baseball signees from the Class of 2004, their high school, their position and where they have committed to. These are the ones that I know of thus far:

    Alex Martin – LHP - Providence High to Clemson University
    Brent Gainey – RHP - Ashley High to UNC-Wilmington
    Jeff Hatcher – RHP - Garner High to UNC-Wilmington
    Benji Johnson – Catcher – Northwood High to UNC-Chapel Hill
    Shane French – 1B – Ashley High to UNC-Wilmington
    Josh Horton – SS – Orange High to UNC-Chapel Hill

    Let's remember that any commitment before the early signing period is "verbal" and non-binding. Also, the "offers" from the colleges are "verbal" and non-binding. Either side can chage their minds or alter their offers until the "ink is dry".

    Woods Fines a RHP from Northwood has committed to East Carolina!

    I think a local Charlotte catcher is signing with UNCC this week but can't go beyond that.
