Just a thought. You see the mascots at the pro, minor leagues games. What about HS. How many have their mascots at the game?

Nobody to dress as a rocket, but quite humerous to watch Coach May or Freddy Suggs at a game. On occasion I have been reminded of the lollygagging scene from Bull Durham.:smartass2:

I just wonder if schools could make games more of an event than the event itself.

No hard feelings PD but I think that is the problem sometimes. I think we need to always just get back to the game.

Feelings I have none. :xyxthumbs: I would agree with your statement. Just was looking to see what other schools may do to draw more students to the games. Mascot was just the ice breaker. Do not get me wrong. I am not talking about spin the bat or race the bases. Just a little something to increase the fan support of the team. I mean that at most schools attendance is mostly parents of players. Regular away games are even less. I was just thinking back to last year. My son's team had several student supports that really helped the team. They even attended some away games. It did help in some situations. Little Johnny knows mom & dad are going to cheer him on. But, with fellow students in the stands it changes things.

One thing we wanted to do at our school was give discounts to kids and even students. Students seem to pay the 5 bucks for football games, probably because it's a social affair and Friday night. But we cannot get enough students to the games. And we have a pretty good program. We also felt kids should get in for something much less that 5 bucks but school AD told us prices were set by either NCHSAA or Guilford County. I think HS baseball is a great place for young kids to hang out. After a while you get tired of fighting City Hall and you give up.

All kids should always be free

JOKE.....the schools want kids to have school spirit and then they charge them to get into a GAME to show their school spirit...JOKE.....the kids will spend the 5 dollars at the concession stand instead so no real loss.

Same. It is just a money thing with them. If they cut the student charge. Bet they would make more. It is the money that they would not be getting. I am sure that you have been to those games that you would be luck to play the umps. I think every school should offer a student discount for every sport.

    show me the money

Here in Wake County. Our school system has gone to selling booster memberships on the premise if you get the family package you'll get all of your money back by attending games with your booster pass. That's a nice idea until you find out for a family of 5 or more we are talking about $400-500 with parking passes. Add to the fact at the same time you purchase your booster passes you have to pay for student parking ($150).
All of a sudden your handing your PUBLIC school around thousand bucks the first week of school. anybody know where a dad can get a bailout?
