    MECA predictions

The MECA should be a very competitive conference this year. What are your predictions for the season?
Hopewell, Mooresville, Lake Norman, and North Meck all have a lot of talent on their teams. Hopewell with Hunter May, Justin Hammond, Hunter Conley, and a few others should be very solid. Mooresville may have the best infield I have seen in a while, and there will not be an easy out in their order. Lake Norman lost most of their key players off of last years 3A State Champions team but they will still be returning Scottie Williams, Tyler Lewis, and Taylor Thurber who pitched very well last year as a sophmore on JV and Varsity also on Mooresville Post 66 Senior Legion team

Falcons you forgot to mention a very talented Mallard Creek Team. I think this conference is more than a 4 team race.

I think people are really underestimating the talent on Mooresville's team this year. They have a large number of seniors this year who played on Post 66 Senior Legion team who finished 4th in the state this summer. They have a solid junior class. Kids that went 20-1 on JV last year at Mooresville and went 28-8 and won the State Championship for Jr American Legion. Also the transfer of JR Overcash from South Rowan will be great for them too.

Jake Beaver, Billy Nantz, and Hunter Nanney all have power to drive it out of the park at any time. Josh Skidmore and Jacob Mays will be great middle infielders, and Mooresville should have some speed in the outfield with Nantz,Overcash, and Phillips or Elliot. 3 out of the 4 run a less than 7 second 60 yd. dash

    JR Overcash

Senior transfer from South Rowan, played on Post 66 Jr. Legion team this summer. Speedy kid and very hard worker.
