loosen up on the slide rule especially at second. not going back to where you can role a guy over but allow a little leeway on sliding straight into the bag and not being able to go past the front edge or pop up. i think this my physiologically be impossible. runner going full speed and come to a sudden stop without his momentum making him pop up or slightly go across the bag

I'd like to see our HS teams play more games...& the State Tournament be re-formatted to include all teams.

I was greatly surprised at how few games our High Schools play in NC. In Kentucky, our schools played 30 regular season games. They also could participate in 3 in-season tournaments that each only counted as one game. That means 33-35 games.

Then EVERY TEAM plays in the State Tournament. Regular season games are used to seed teams, but every school gets new life in May.

I know in NC many argue that such a format would wear out pitching & make the regular season/conference games meaningless. Not true.

...Instead I see NC schools ride 2 pitchers & never give #3,4,5 on their staff any work. Doesn't happen in Ky. Since you play 3-4 games a week, you have to have 3 starters & bullpen.

...Plus the rivalry of conference competition in Ky plus the huge advantage of higher post season seeding fueled the regular season games.

...And every school had a '2nd season' to work towards. Picture in your mind the joy of the last couple of teams that get in the NCAA basketball tournament each March. They know they have zero chance to win it all...but their dream is to win a game or 2.

As it stands in NC, many teams are eliminated from post season by April 1 (unless they can pull a miracle in Conf tourny).

There are many coaches in favor of 3-4 games per week, but those coaches have the dilemma of a strong staff that gets little work.

Since schools can't play 3-4 games per week, why not go to 9 inning games? That way all the pitchers will get some work.

You guys have my vote! :agreed:

9 innings would at least see a greater pitching rotation and, potentially, a pitching staff more prepared for playoffs. 3 games a week would be great too.

    So far........

I like these - Back to the wood bat - 2-3 in the playoffs - Change the slide rule -

Dont like this one - Everyone in the playoffs - Whats the point of the regular season if everyone is in the playoffs? What makes those conference games so exciting and fun to play is the fact they mean something very special. Winning a conference championship used to mean that you (made the state playoffs). Now you have everyone just about already in before the season starts. To me it takes the luster off of those conference match ups because were all in anyway. JMO

And Coach Evans forget about your rule. Were changing that one to Granville County. Southern Granville County.
