There have been a couple of threads about various deliveries and if they're illegal or not. So my question to you guys who know: If my pitcher does a normal wind-up and comes between her legs to deliver, is it illegal? I mean the WFC guys didnt really seem sure, and she did it three times today, all for called third strikes. (She also did it two more times and it was put in play) but when the hitters first saw it, they were stunned. A couple of coaches from other teams were arguing it was illegal.

    legal

a pitch from behind the back is legal so I guess that one between the legs is legal also.

    summer ball

I bet we'll see some instances of the "behind the back" pitch this summer. between her legs huh??????? gonna have to go try that today, wonder if my 18u dd can do that?? lol..... better yet, wonder if she'll want to do that???? so, we have the "face second base, turn and throw pitch", the " behind the back pitch" and the "between the legs pitch". whats next???

my understanding is as long as you start with both feet on the rubber.

    eyes on ???

I always coached girls to concentrate with their eyes on the delivery point (the side of the pitcher's leg or knee) to get as early a look at the ball as possible. If these "crazy" pitches catch on, that thinking won't always be true.
