Is there a favorite in the IMECK conference tournament?

Is there any reason to believe that any of the top 5 teams cannot win it all? Mallard Creek has been hot lately but not sure they are deep enough in either hitting or pitching. And they don't put many gloves on the field. Cannot comment on the other teams but this tournament should be fun with the reward being playing the championship game at UNCC.
    Good luck to everybody.

Need to see tournament results first.

    Hope this helps:

    IMeck State Playoff Seeding

#1 seed – Mallard Creek is #1 because they are the league champion. They cannot lose the number one seed no matter what happens in the conference tournament.

#4-5 seeds – Hopewell and Lake Norman have identical league marks and I believe they split head to head according to the LKN website. They play each other in the opening round of the tournament. The winner will get the #4 seed in the state playoffs unless they win the tournament. The tournament winner will be the #2 seed (unless Mallard Creek wins). If Vance, WC or NM were to win the tournament, then the loser of the Hopewell/LKN game would be out of the playoffs.

#2-3 seeds – Mooresville and Hough also have identical league marks and I believe they also split their games. That being the case, if they meet in the second round of the tournament, the winner will be the second seed (loser 3 seed) or they will drop to 3 & 4 if someone other than Mallard Creek, Mooresville or Hough wins the tournament. If both these teams lose before the conference final, then they could have a tie breaker game.

Below is from the NCHSAA handbook:

    (C) DETERMINING NCHSAA PLAYOFF REPRESENTATIVES: The following rules are used to determine which teams earn available berths into the NCHSAA playoffs, awarded on the basis of regular season standings. These are used AFTER completion of the conference tournament, or BEFORE NCHSAA PLAYOFFS if there is no tournament.

    (1) Award berths based on final regular season standings (see Section A). Note that if a tie is broken using head to head competition, the tie is broken from that point on and there is no need to use other criteria.

    (2) Three or more teams . . . does not apply in IMeck situation.

    (3) If two are still tied in the final standings, a special playoff game will be played unless the tied teams mutually agree to break the tie by other means. The playoff game may not violate the weekly limitations, and it could be preliminary game to the state playoffs or a game in the conference tournament. No playoff game shall be played prior to a conference tournament. A meeting between the tied teams which occurs in any round in the conference tournament would count as the playoff game.

    (4) If both teams are eliminated from the conference tournament but can still play the playoff game and not violate the weekly limitations, it shall be played. Exception: If a team advances to the conference tournament finals, even if a playoff game would not violate the weekly limitations, the game will not be played, and the team that advances to the finals gets the higher seed.

    I-Meck Championship Game at UNCC

    I-MECK Championship Game
    Hopewell 0
    Hough 1

Zack Moore 3 1/3 IP and Pierce Suttles 3 2/3 IP combine for the WIN

Well played game by both sides.
Defensive stops made by both teams all night.
Another very tight game between two conference opponents/neighbors/former teammates.

Hopewell's sophomore lefty pitcher went the distance--mixed it up well all night w/plenty of nasty breaking pitches. FB was tailing in on those RHB tight!!! His future looks very bright as does the Hopewell pitching staff. My hat is off to their youngsters!!!
