    I comprehend it.
Michael finishes HS and slides in the draft due to signability and size questions.
A big market team takes a flyer on him and offers him Lassiter-type money
(600,000) or he is passed over completely like Tyler Hanover. Either way he goes to UNC and waits until 2012 to be drafted again.
Or he skips his sr. season, passes on the 09 draft, goes to UNC,gains 15-20 pounds and is a potential first round pick in 2011 for say Reese Havens money (1.4 mil).
So instead of riding minor league buses for 3 years, he not only gets an education, but sets himself up for a much bigger payout.

I hope people realize the discussions on this subject is really not about Levi Michael, per se-- even though I've made remarks about him specifically. I think the discussion is more about the situation, than it is specifically about Levi. I believe most people reading this support his decision because it is a personal family decision, but it is an interesting topic to discuss. Much like discussing the merits of early commitments. Nobody is criticizing the decision by families, members just like to know why and the benefits of it. Some other members might find themselves in this position in the future and it's helpful to look at all possibilities and see how they arrived at the decision..

    Hey Diamond Rat . . .

You've never seen Levi play? You definitely have something to look forward to - you're in for a treat.

Best of luck, Levi - except when you're playing WF!

Oh I am MORE then looking forward to it, and Braves, lol IDK what you just said, I'm only taking Spanish 1, and I am only like a month and a half into it haha. I know the last thing you said (usted) you should've abbreviated as Ud. because when writing it's more formal. And it means that what you said was in formal form. Other then that I'm so lost lol

I can promise you i'm not trying to say anything bad about Levi, i've never met the guy but from all accounts seems like a good guy. I am trying to figure out why someone would do it.

I agree a college degree is great but the team that draft you has clauses in their contracts when your done playing they will send you to college for free. College degrees are great but they don't pay for a house or buy you a car or put food on the table.

I assume he is one of the best players from NC from what everyone has said one here. Why not wait til the draft and see if you get drafted. If he gets drafted high, that will mean he will get a nice payout and have more money to his name than he ever has before. Like I stated, major league contracts have a college option that if you go back to college they will pay for it and you will have your degree. Can you imagine if he gets drafted( and I can imagine this because he is one of the best players from NC) and he signs for $750,000 or MORE. If he is smart and saves it up he will have MILLIONS of dollars by the time he is 50 or less than 50.

Ok he didn't get drafted or got drafted low, well of to college I go to play college baseball for UNC and get a college degree.

What I am trying to say is that he could be selling himself short of a nice payout if he goes a semester early. Could you imagine get paid millions or hundred of thousands of dollars and blow out your knee and go back to college for FREE. Or blowing your knee out in college and have no money to your name but have a college degree. Everyone says a college degree is great and it is, but why not wait one semester and see what happens. You never know when that injury will hit you and you cannot play or done playing forever. If that happens I want him to have a lot of money to his name than during his senior year of baseball when the draft is coming up(Example:Chad Flack(got nothing against Flack, but he is a recent example)).

That's why going a semester early makes no sense to me.
