I know you are very busy and I appreciate all the hardwork you do covering high school baseball. As a huge fan and close follower, I used to really enjoy the Charlotte Observer's Sweet 16 poll where they ranked the teams in this area of the state. If you get a chance I would like to see how you would rank area teams w/o breaking them down by class.

    Tigers -

I will be happy to do this but I need a little help. I am aware the "Sweet 16 Poll" covers the Charlotte area, but what other "areas" does it cover?

I think Fort Mill (SC) high school is in there, right?

If you can list a past "Sweet 16" please do so. That will give me a list of teams to chose from.

    ImpactBB,

The Sweet 16 hasn't been published since last year, that I know of. It was primarily all schools is the Charlotte Observer area, which would include all of Region 6, plus Catawba, McDowell, Burke, Rutherford and Iredell counties. Going into SC would include York (Fort Mill, Rock Hill, etc.) and Lancaster counties.

    Hope this helps.

    Question about the Sweet 16

I went to the Observer and did a search on this topic. I'm going to paste the response and the link here.

    Link: Charlotte Observer Questions/Answers

The Sweet 16 traditionally has covered the Observer delivery area, which extends to a pretty wide area. Guessing the delivery area isn't my idea of fun, but it exceeds Mecklenburg and the adjacent counties. It goes as far west as Shelby, Down into SC to Fort Mill, Rock Hill, Pageland. It travels North as far as Statesville, to the Northeast as far as Rowan County and to the east past Concord and Albemarle, covering Stanly County. That's a pretty fair guess as to the area. According to the Observer, they have 105 high schools in their delivery area.

The reason I believe the Observer can find the time to cover Basketball and Football, but not baseball, is because the other two sports have cheerleaders..........

We SERIOUSLY gotta think about this guys....

How about a top ten including Rowan, Mecklenburg, Cabarrus, Union, and Stanly Counties? Any others in this area I'm forgetting?

How about Gaston, Iredell, Lincoln and Cleveland???

It depends on where you want the center of the circle to be .....

If it's Charlotte and it's surrounding environs, you have to go North and West too....

I was thinking those counties due to the fact that they seem to be the most well covered on this board.
