I know you are very busy with polls, follow lists....new home....new life:D

But, Andy, can you give us an update on some of the things you are working on?

Do you have anything firm yet on your 2004 Pitcher/Catcher showcase in February? Who's invited, that kinda stuff?

Fellas - Sorry for the delay..

Braves: The new polls "stuff" is a challenge, gathering info, etc. I am currently setting up workouts for the spring & summer, while crosschecking numerous players.

Who's the best guy you've seen!!?

NCBBallFan: Our P/C workout is about set. A little over 60 of the top guys from NC, SC, VA will be on hand as well as players from TN, WV, MD, NJ, etc. The workout is a great opportunity for the top 04' guys to come in and get together before the season and take part in a fun, loose, upbeat workout. The roster will be up on ImpactBaseball.com next week.

    Changeover...

I like the thread on Wallace & Havens you've got going. Obviousley everyone saw this announcement on ImpactBaseball.com a few days ago. I think I may have the answer to the debate... Maybe it's just 'cool' to commit early?

Think about it... If you have always wanted to go to a certain school, why not commit early? Is the size of the scholarship that important? Maybe it is... I don't know?

Impact Thought: How many of us actually get the chance to play college baseball at USC anyway? Trust me, there are a lot of dudes out there that would love to commit to the Gamecocks early.

Bottom line: Two great players going to play for a great program with great coaches.

Impact Baseball does more to promote players across our state than anyone. It is a great resource for our board and I appreciate Andy taking the time in his busy schedule to help keep us informed. Whether one takes issues with Impact Baseball or not, he's a guest on our forum and let's treat our guests with some degree of respect.

Let me say this, Andy has never done anything but help a player and his parents. He spends his entire life, unselfishly, to seek and promote players to give them better opportunities. Prior to Impact, there were very few choices to do so. As he is a "one man team", it has taken some time for him to acquaint himself to all players across the state....particularly the Western part of NC. But he has spent a tremendous amount of time this past season in this area and has built a number of valuable contacts that he can trust.

It would be difficult for anyone on our board to select the best 16-20 players in the Western part of our state, let alone actually seeing all 20 players play...but he does! There is no one person that has seen and cross checked more players in this state than Andy. Now, some people take issue with his selection process “ Top 100 players…Top catchers…Top pitchers”. They believe that if you don’t participate in his showcases that you won’t be rated. To some extent that’s true. With the 360+ schools in this state and an average of 12-15 players per team, it’s impossible to see them all….and he utilizes his showcases to help in this area, but many of his “Top” lists include players that never attended his events. He would be the first to admit that there are some very talented players across our state that he has heard of (some through TBR), but has not been able to see….but he has identified them and sent out a request for them to participate in events so he can take notice…and there is not much more that he can do.

I have met many people across this state that are “plugged in” to HS baseball; Coaches, parents, showcase organizers. And some of these people you better take a shower after shaking their hands or at least check your pockets. But I have met just a few that dedicate themselves with principle in helping a HS baseball player to improve his standing in the baseball community for the sake of continuing that player’s opportunity to play college baseball…..and Andy is one of those few.

Interesting read over on Impact Baseball discussing the responses of recruiting co-ordinators for various colleges concerning the new "quiet" and "dead" periods in HS recruiting.

It's easy to see where the larger colleges are put at a competitive advantage in seeing players versus the smaller schools.

Do you expect changes to be implemented next year, such as an open week in January, extending November, or starting up again in February?
