    Cubs Jr.-16
    Megastars(younger team)-7

I think the Jr. Cubs beat the Fungo Red Sox 15-4 Sat. morning.

Anybody know why the games at Doak ran 1hr. behind schedule? I didn't get there 'til about 2:00pm.

    Cubs vs Panthers

Was a great game but not a well played game. First loss of the fall for Cubs. Cubs pitchers did not throw strikes and were hit hard all game. About eight hit batters in game. Cubs finally started hitting late but couldn't get it done.

Cubs won Saturday game over Phillies Scout team. Sam Brown and Mac Read combined on the sutout.
Anyone know how Sr Cubs did in the last game Sunday?

Sorry if I gave the impression that the Panthers as a team were unsportsmanlike. I mentioned the hit batters by both teams because it indicated how sloppy the play was. The Cubs hit just as many as the Panthers. The Panthers played very hard from beginnng to end, got a great pitching performance by their starter, and just gritted out a win over a very good team. I do believe there were some instances by a few players that were not in the best interest of the game. I have heard that the Cubs players may have taken part in some of it also. I hope that all can learn from it and leave that part out the next time.

    Cubs

On Sunday the Cubs beat the Carolina Cougars. I'm not sure of the score but I think it was 12-2 or 13-3.

Congratulations to the South Charlotte Panthers!

I have no affliation with the Panthers, but have coached against them many times.
Great group of young men, excellent players; superb coaching staff & parents.
These guys are often underestimated but always finish near the top of every tournament/ Showcase they enter.

They can flat out hit & know how to play the game.
They do not get the publicity they deserve.

    Great job guys!

Can anyone post a copy of the Panther Roster, and do you have a website?

Additions for SC Panthers for Fort Myers

In looking at the South Charlotte Panthers roster,I see that most of their pitching staff is 06's. Will they be adding any 07's for the Underclassmen tournament in Fort Myers. I've noticed that the Impact AA team has taken off all of their 06's from the roster for the tournament and was wondering if SC Panthers are adding any 07's or 08's. Should be a great tournament.

    Fungo Red Sox Results (unofficial)

The Fungo Red Sox finished the weekend 2-1 with two quality wins after a very sloppy and error-filled loss to the Cubs 16U.

    Game 1 - Broughton HS
    Cubs 16U- 15 Fungo Red Sox- 4
The Sox came out very flat and spoiled a very promising pitching effort by starter JACOB JERNIGAN (Jr - Robinson) with several infield errors.

SOX HITTING HIGHLIGHTS: A solo shot to left by Sox leading hitter WES DOZIER (Sr - Hopewell) and a 2-run no-doubt blast to center that easily cleared the Broughton High activity bus parked beyond the fence by SEAN COTTON (Sr - Lake Norman).

Game 2 - East Chapel Hill HS
    Fungo Red Sox- 5 17U Dirtbags- 4
A great see-saw battle in this one that ended with a 9th inning bases-loaded walk to ANDREW LAWING (Jr - NW Cabarrus).

SOX HITTING HIGHLIGHTS: Clutch hitting from a couple of Hopewell hopefuls, DANNY BRAHMAN (Jr) and BLAKE McGEE (So), as well as SCOTT CAVE (Sr - North Meck). Also the bats of SEAN COTTON and WES DOZIER stayed hot.

SOX PITCHING HIGHLIGHTS: 5.1 quality innings from sophomore righty GARRETT BRAUN (Lake Norman) [whose older brother Ryan pitches AA ball for the KC Royals] and a superb relief effort (3.2 innings) and the win from JAMES HOLMES (Sr - Robinson).

Game 3 - Doak Field - NC State
Fungo Red Sox- 3 Megastars (older)- 2
Not a lot of hitting here (no earned runs) but the pitching was superb.

SOX HITTING HIGHLIGHTS: SEAN COTTON's bat remained red-hot this weekend hitting two doubles and driving in 2 before an injury forced him to leave in the 5th (a pick-off throw from Gurley went through the first-baseman's webbing and hit Cotton in the forehead). COTTON finished the weekend unofficially with 3 doubles, 1 very long HR and 6 RBI). WES DOZIER provided the winning margin with a walk and eventually scoring on a wild pitch.

SOX PITCHING HIGHLIGHTS: ROBBY GURLEY (Sr - NW Cabarrus) pitched 5 quality innings and left with a 2-2 score. PAT SHERRILL (Sr - North Meck) finished off the hot-hitting Mega-Stars with 4 innings and the win. JORDAN CUDNEY (Myers Park) went the distance and pitched well for the Mega-Stars.

    Game Results

Did the teams that you beat come out flat? Is that why you won those games? You lost the game to the cubs because you got outplayed. 15-4. You probaly won the other two games not because they came out flat but because you outplayed them. We lost to the older Megastars team Saturday morning 5-4. We gave up 4 unearned runs. But the bottom line is they outplayed us and beat us straight up. You can not take credit for the wins if you do not take credit for the loss. Im not trying to be an ***. Just making a point here. I always give credit to my opponent when they defeat me. Could we have played better maybe so. But that is not the point. Good luck to you guys in your next tournement.
