at Pfeiffer, Catawba, Elon, and Wingate. Should be some great baseball as some very good teams are in it. Dirtbags, Cubs, Baseball Academy to name a few. I still think the Dirtbags and Cubs should be playing.

Alex White is also listed on the Dirtbags 18U roster...did he move over to the Cubs?

Impact Dirtbags 17U "Austin Alexander" also won both of their games yesterday at Wingate. They played the Florence Tigers and Virginia Tide.

Won the first game easily and Greg Holt (West Forsyth, '07) was pretty impressive on the mound. He showed good control and his curve remained basically unscathed throughout his outing. Game got sloppy and, as with most 8am games, hitting and defense were not as sharp as normal. I really like the combo of Ben Bunting (Randleman, '07) and Tyler Hanover (East Forsyth, '08) at the top of the order. They make a lot of stuff happen, get on base and require pitchers to throw a lot of pitches, which is all you want from your #1 and #2 hitters.

Game 2 in the afternoon had some better hitting between the Dirtbags and the Virginia Tide. Will Cornelius (NW Guilford, '06) showed some power and showed well behind the plate. David Mailman (Providence, '07) also showed some pop at the plate in both games. This is the first time I've seen some of these guys so there were others who played well who I can't recall. The DirtBags had some pitching difficulty in the middle of the game and the Tide tied the game up 4-4 and had the bases loaded. Coach A brought Blake Hassebrock (Parkland, '07) in for the remaining 2 1/3 innings and pitched perfect ball collecting 5 K's to earn the win. Hassebrock is tall and relatively lean and since he just turned 16 last month he has projectable all over him. The second game was a good showcase tourney game to watch.

    Cubs 18U

Won 3 games this weekend. Closest one was 6-4 against NC Baseball Academy. Other two were blowouts. Cubs ran a bunch of great arms out to the mound this weekend. Sam Brown and BJ Dail (same HS, are you kidding me!) throwing gas. Dallas Poulk had a big weekend at leadoff. HRs on the weekend by Dail, Josh Aldridge, and Ryan Graepel (I think). All in all, a very solid weekend.
