I saw the light fall and yes it very lucky nobody was hurt but if kids can by hand unscrew the bolts, seems like they need to check all the poles. I have to say the Cubs are a great team but the light problem had nothing to do with them not hitting they got shut down by a great pitching preformance by On Decks 08 Tyler Pilkington. I think he goes to Weddington and I heard a buz around the tournament about him. The OnDeck 08 team is going to be very good with d1 players like Pilkington, Kosters, Waters, Darnell and more so I wouldnt be so hard on the cubs as I would be looking to OD08 To be very good in the future.

The Cubs were miserable with the bats all summer. The lefty for the Os was very good but it was a typically bad offensive game for the Cubs.

I believe the Panthers are most complete team in the tounament speed, power, defense, pitching they should take care of business today.

    Dirtbags win 3-2

Just received a call that the Dirtbags won 3-2.
Sounds like it was a great game.

The game ended with the tying run being caught over running third on an infield hit.

A bigger story this weekend for the Panthers; this was the final game as South Charlotte Panthers for two players who will start their respective college careers in the next couple of weeks, Justin Schumer(UNCA) and Erik Sommerville(Francis Marion). Justin has played with the Panthers for 4 years and over 250 games; Erik Sommerville began play with the original Panthers as an 11 year old and has played over 450 games.
A lot of emotion and fun including a back flip by Erik when he came onto the field.

The Panthers end their summer season 34-12 and begin play this fall in the Impact Labor Day event. Look for Panther try out information this week as the team looks to fill a few spots from our departing seniors.

    Good Luck to:
    Erik Sommerville (Francis Marion)
Justin Schumer (University of North Carolina Asheville)
    Josh Salay ( Winthrop)
    Zach Parmer ( Wofford)
    Nick Fogleman ( Pfieffer)
