There's been very little talk about this young, talented group of players. The majority of this team has played with or against each other in the Mint Hill Athletic Assocation since they were 5 or six years old. Before this season is over guys like- Farry,Cooke, A.Bray, R.Bray, Miller, Miller, Nicholson, Rocket, McMahon- will have made some noise deep into the playoffs. They are tournament tested having played together each summer in lieu of seeking individual opportunities to play for other "select" teams. Much sweat and tears has been shed out in the hinterlands of Mint Hill. Boys, I believe there's a pot of neck bones simmerin'-and the Patriots are coming to dinner.

    Very impressed!

With what the former Ad at East has done with them! Quite a bounce back from last season Congrats and good luck to them the rest of the way! :applause:

The "young" patriots have knocked of Providence, Myers Park, East Meck and Butler. Their only loss so far was in the opening game of the season when then lost a 4-2 decision against Butler. An early season, non-conference loss is pretty meaningless.

What happens in scrimmage games is completely meaningless. They are worthy of respect.

Just wanted to give these guys some ink. Don't have a dog in the fight. But I know these young men from our years at MHAA and think a lot of them. We all know South Meck is loaded has few peers and rings are being fitted.

No,no,no...as far as the players @ SM are concerned, that's the farthest from their mind. They are truly taking it one game at a time. Please don't label those guys as being arrogant. They respect every team and realize that any team can beat them.

But back to the topic. I and NCBBallFan have said from the beginning how talented Independence is. You knew what you would get from Farry and Rockett, but Robby Bray has been a pleasant surprise this year. The Patriots can hit the ball well too. They are very strong in their fundamentals and Coltrane has them playing "team ball". Right now, they are the best in the Mecca 8.

The second half of the season will be interesting and fun!!!

Many of the Independence players will be joining some of the Hopewell players on the Megastar team this summer.

Yes, I agree with Braves…the SM players are very humble and not arrogant whatsoever!!! Just giving it all they’ve got one game at a time! No rings being fitted as yet for sure…there’s to long of a path for SM to run down as yet to even go there!

Independence, however, did start out a little slowly it seemed but has come on high throttle since their first scrimmage and first regular season game. Robby Bray has most definitely stepped up to the plate and the veterans Farry and Rocket have been solid as well. Put Indy’s batters behind these solid pitchers and you’ve got a Patriot’s team that any other team they play would be weary of in a hurry!

Looking forward to seeing the Independence Patriots advance on to the 4A state playoffs this spring.

    Okay...one more Independence thought

Congratulations on being ranked 5th in the State ..that's pretty rarified air up there. Teams will now start to be gunning for you :D...certainly won't be under the radar anymore

Also, I hope that "SM has few peers" does not mean what I think that it is suppose to mean but I would think that is not the case! Although, we all know when a team is having a good season and is on top, everyone will be "gunning" for you as will be the case soon with Independence as well I would think since Indy is now rising high in the 4A polls?!?

Anyone know where Zach and Jeff are going to school in the fall? Any school recruiting either right now?
