Our team (18U Wildcats) played in the state games @ Walnut creek this weekend. The infields there are horrible. Brick hard dust bowls with undulations that rival those on greens at Augusta! Pitchers areas and batter's boxes are pits. Seems that the city could take some of resources they expend on the beautiful landscape plantings and create some playable IF's. If Rock Hill and Lexington are able to create and maintain good IF's why can't Raleigh? To bad Ray's tournament at the end of July is back in Raleigh. The girls deserve better playing conditions that those currently afforded by Walnut Creek.

The Wildcats won the Gold going 7-0 for the weekend.

Good job, great organization, has been around awhile and continues to produce good clubs.

I said the same thing after thye State Finals. If we cannot provide a better place for your teams to play for a championship on move them to a college field. Like eve3ry other sport in NC.

    Fields

Sounds like they have really let the fields go at Walnut. They used to be good, in fact big college tourneys held there every year. Hate to hear Raleigh is following the lead of Charlotte.

The main problem is they just drag the fields after every tournament and don't nail drag and turn the infield over. The fields end up with a fine layer of dust over dirt that is a compacted and hard as cement. The fields in the Dynamites this year weren't much better. Of course if I had about 2 or 3 hard slappers who just drive it into the dirt and bounce the ball into left field then I might not be saying anything here.... :laugh1:

    And of course we . . .

do have lead off with 3 hard slappers but I'd still like to see better fields. Things at "the creek" are so bad now that they need some box blade work to get them right.

    Slappers

Yea I know U were talking about me "Enka", U are right I loved the Dynamite fields, just wish we had taken more advantage of the hard infield. U are right the fields were not as good as previously and maybe it is a money thing for the various city govt. Hey I guess we all have to make the best of what they give us if we play these tourneys. Best to U this summer, got a good little team there! :agreed:

I am coaching my 16U which is playing as 18U in the Showcase. Very young kids but felt they needed to see what it is all about. We will take our lumps maybe, but should have fun.
