I dont know if anyone caught this, but I was watching the WYFF (Greenville, SC) news at 11 pm when their lead story featured a South Carolina lawmaker entering a bill into the SC House of Representatives for introducing instant replays for South Carolina state basketball playoffs/championships. This was done in the wake of last Saturday's controversy in the Class 4A State Title game between Spartanburg and Summerville.

Trailing 50-48 in the waning seconds of the 4th quarter, Summerville missed a free throw that would have put them up by three. Spartanburg rebounded the ball and threw up a prayer from the opposite foul line (3/4 court) and drained it....All for the referees to decide that it came after the horn sounded, thus giving Summerville the SC 4A Championship.

Here's a link to that video (http://wyff.highschoolplaybook.com/Index.do). It looked like he got it off in time, but just like here in NC, the referees go by the horn and not the lights on the backboard.

Id like to see something like this done in NC for the sectional finals, regionals, and state championship games. Id like to see teams win and win cleanly. However, things need to be reviewed to see if the ball was released within time - which could mean the difference between a championship and being the first loser.
