In the not too distant past, I would have said trust is passed on from coach to player, then player to player. Now I would say trust starts higher up the ladder and filters down.
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight."
    T is for thankful.
    R is for reliable.
    U is for understanding.
    S is for sincere.
    T is for truthful.
By the way, all this comes from a book, "The Baseball Coaching Bible"
Chapter one- Sharing a love for the game by John Scolinos ( who coached for over 50 years).

    Great Post 007

That was a great post! Also I think we have to add in not being satisfied. You have to work everyday to get better not only as an individual but as a team. Sometimes you see a team come out of the gate very strong and not get better during the season. And sometimes you see a team come out not exceptionally strong but they seem to get better and better as the year goes along. Players have to realize that it is very important to strive to improve each and everyday. Also I think we could add in the intangible area "The little things". What team always hits the cut off, gets the sac bunts down, is solid in first and third situations both offensively and defensively , solid in the bunt defense game etc. Many many times we tend to focus on who has the big arms or the big bats but many times these are the areas of the game that can make or break you in a tough game. Teams that are able to make adjustments during a game. Can they break out the small ball game when they are not hitting? Can they manufacture runs? There are a ton of intangibles that can make the difference during the course of a short HS season. Team chemistry is crucial.

i actually copied that from the book and keep it on my desk in my office and in my classroom. i put trust and faith kind of the same breathe. my nine month has been sick for a little over a week. things at home to the say the least are a little tense, but after reading that again this morning i was able to relax. then i come on tbr and there it is again. He works in ways i will not comprehend, but He works and thats all i care about.

I hope your child gets well soon !
It's definitely nerve-wracking when they get sick at that age.
I'm glad we both read the book. Great stuff.

HE is the man isn't he!!! Just want to add, Stay focused on HIM and everything else will be fine. Most importantly, do not put Him up on the shelf and only pull Him down when you are struggling. Walk with Him daily and watch your life change more than you could ever imagine. God will take you to the edge and from there it is up to you. You can turn around or step out on faith to reach the goals set before you. I urge all of you to challenge yourselves this year and Face The Giants of your lives everyday. By the way Facing The Giants is an awesome movie for those who haven't seen it.
