I think the article is fairly correct. The coach from Vandy has spoken to CCS players from time to time. For the most part, we think his intitial interest came from Perfect Games. However, we know that not to be the case for Reid Fronk who ultimately wound up at UNC.

I also think his statement about every Perfect Game Jupiter or Ft Myers attendee going D1 to be a stretch. Are there 160 D1 schools? I don't know but certainly there probably aren't that many east of the mighty Mississippi where Jupiter (seniors) and Ft Meyers (underclassmen) teams typically draw from.

Also there were virtually no scouts present at the underclassmen event in 2004. But one thing for sure, if you have a HS player or team that shines at Jupiter or Ft Meyers, be assured they will be able to compete most anywhere.

Good post CCS. The point of view the author took is one that most of us have subscibed to for years. That with budget cuts, the recruiters go where they get the most bang for their bucks and to the consternation of some...it's to a Showcase event...especially Perfect Game.

The Jupiter tournament might be an exception to who it attracts. Although it certainly leans heavily on Florida and the Eastern teams, there are quite a few National western teams that attend. I know that Stanford, Pepperdine, USC-Northridge, San Diego State, Arizona State, Arizona, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Ok. State and probably many I'm missing will be there.

But I'm still amazed at how many Pro Scouts will be there. I know the Dodgers sent their whole staff a couple of years ago (30)...plus a few assistant GM's. For anybody that follows the Top '06's across the country, this is the place to play if you want to see where you measure.
