I've review the Boyd articles in the past. They concentrate on over-use of pitchers (and that is a concern at some institutions).

The telling number from the page is the number of Class IV and Class V starts. A Class IV start means that the pitcher threw over 120 pitches. A Class V start means he threw over 132 pitches....

Now, I don't know how many college pitchers are still effective when they get up in the 120's, but it's not many. There are WAY too many Class IV and Class V starts reflected for some schools.

Here is a sorted breakdown from Boyd's by School measuring what he calls "Pitcher Abuse Points".

Games Estimated are just that .... From the # of innings pitched and the average pitches/inning for that pitcher, they estimate the actual pitch count ..... Not all schools report the data.

Based on some formula I can't comprehend, they are coming up with a stat called "Pitcher Abuse Points" or PAP ....

It's related to Pitch Counts and frequency of trotting guys out to the mound.
