    Hey---You Aint Seen Nothing !!!

Haily Jarman ( Lady Blues ), can pitch overhand and through smoke..when I first met her she was pitching in a tournament at " Noel Williams" rec facility, and she was smoking them boys to death, they couldn't keep up with her,and the boys were getting frustrated, it was kind of funny seeing those boys get struck out by a "GIRL"----LOL......GURU

Mo Childers and Morgan Mayer both started out in baseball in the km rec league, both could clober the ball and had pretty good arms, it was a good place to start their careers in softball

    Girls Youth Baseball

My daughter very much prefers baseball. I am sure she will switch at some point, mostly due to the social aspect and desire to play with other girls. However, at this stage, she would rather play All Star and travel baseball than travel softball.

My DD and two of her friends played baseball until age 13, then moved to fastpitch. All three are now playing softball a major D-1 colleges. I credit baseball for giving all three the arm strength and hitting ability that helped them to excel at softball. Back then, baseball had better coaches and was a much faster game. Playing with the boys also gave them a level of confidence that I feel even helps today. (12-13 year old boys do NOT like getting struck out by a girl!!)

Times are much, much different now. We have by far better coaching and much higher level of competitiveness in softball today than we had even 5 years ago. For the most part fastpitch and travel ball was just getting started in NC in the late 90's and for my DD, baseball was the right choice then. My youngest DD has chosen the softball route all the way and that's fine. Again, due to the higher level of competition and better coaching, I think she will do well.

Just a thought- in today's world, I wonder for those who have the talent and want to play baseball, why don't they just play softball and play up an age group or two? That's what we're doing with the youngest DD.

    Baseball

Cassie Palmer (UNC Tarheel) was a great baseball SS when I convinced her to play softball with Blues. She took us up a notch quickly. Her mother was a wonderful person then and still is an awesome lady battling cancer at this point. Supportive of her other younger kids trying to play sports. I agree fastpitch is good enough now that those quality girl baseball players could excel at the game a couple levels above their age group at times.

I am trying to see if there are enough girls interested to start an all girls baseball league. Please read thread for Carolina Miners or visit the website at CarolinaMiners.com. Maybe your daughter will be interested.

we got our start in coach pitch and her coach put her at 2B. However, at this point in time I see no point in girls playing baseball unless its the only gig available and only then just when you start out.

Since Professional Softball is fairly limited and the real career is in Baseball(or other male dominated sports) then the question is, can a woman make it into professional baseball. If so, then why not try?
