Possibly the best thread from last spring was our interview with Coach Austin Alexander from Elon concerning recruiting.

It's time for another major interview (or maybe a couple of them). We have some strong candidates in the wings but we need a solid list of questions to submit to them.

These questions can be about any topic (baseball-related), from recruiting, pro-scouting, college coach related, high school coach related, showcasing, whatever you can imagine or dream up ....

Once we have a solid list of questions, we will break them down by category and find an expert in the field to submit them to. It's nice to have an outsider's view of the world in some of these things.

I expect some good questions guys. This thread is for the QUESTIONS. We may believe we know the answers to some of them, but it's nice to have ideas and opinions confirmed by the experts.

    Fire away........

How many times on average does a coach have to see a player preform before he actually knows he wants to recruit or make an offer?

How long for a pitcher to develope fully? Physically! of course. What is the most you have ever seen a pitcher pick up speed wise. Is it more mechanics or maturity?

While I was working with Dr. Tom House in Sand Diego, California for one week this past summer, he told me that through research that he has done, he has found that a pitcher will physically peak at age 26-27.

I cant wait to see Prior in a few years!

Other than skill level - what does a college coach look for in a potential recruit? What is the most important non-physical trait he seeks?

How much emphasis is really placed on the academic ability of a potential recruit?

Does a "pushy" parent affect the coaches perception of a potential recruit?

Once recruited - does a college coach follow the summer activities of his recruited player. If so - to what extent does he follow his activities?

Once recruited - does a college coach pay any attention to how the player interacts amongst his teammates? Does it really matter to the coach - or is it just performance that counts?

    Interview Questions

Do recruitors talk to a recruits team opposition, coach, players, and do they do a background check; talk to guidance counselor, students.

would you rather a player that is in college already, play in a wood bat league or play legion ball. considering the bats, and the difference in coaching, and quality of coaching.
