Is the Queen of Diamonds Showcase a good investment? Just looking for input from anyone that has attended the event. Do alot of D1 coach's attend? Do the player's get to take infield before games to showcase their defensive abilities? Is it a honor to be selected or do most players that turn in an application get selected? What is your overall rating for the event?

    Thanks

I think it is hard to call anything softball related a good investment with regard to monetary concerns.

    Is it a potential opportunity.....yes.
    Is it a good experience.....absolutely.
Does it provide for good instruction.... yes.
    Coaches present......quite a few.

Good investment.......in everything except the financial.

QDS and Cup were a great experience for my daughter and without regret.

    depends

My daughter attended twice in Rock Hill. I thought the opportunity would be wonderful and she enjoyed meeting the other girls and playing. Kurt's guidance was helpful. You are divided up and play 4 50 minute games.

    My pros and cons:

Pro - good number of mid level college coaches
Con - field time. College coaches complained because they only have a 50 minute window to see a player play. You may only get 1 at-bat during a game.

Pro - good for pitchers and catchers
Con - if you are a hitter, you may only bat 4 or 6 times for the entire event.

Pro - well organized. Teams are on and off in a timely manner. Games stay on schedule.
Con - players are not as easily identifiable, coaches have to spend time checking to see if they are at the right field and time is ticking. You have a number on your back, but when you are in the field, they can not see your back and then they have to make sure it is the right team because each girl wears a different uniform.

Pro - opportunity to be in front of coaches.
Con - cost per at-bat if your daughter is a regular player and hitter?

Pro - Excellant suggestions for gaining college coaches attention
Con - Cost has increased enormously over the last several years without any change to the format. Same exposure for much more money.

Yes, I know that some of you may think this is a little self serving, but I do provide this as information. As long as you understand these pros and cons going in, I think you will be fine.

My daughter is a hitter and middle infielder. She played in this event twice and enjoyed it both times. I know college coaches recruit bats, so I needed her to be seen at the plate more. The school that she ultimately signed with was not at either event. There were several schools at this event that showed an interest in her, but felt they did not get to see enough.

But for instance, for 1/2 the cost, you can play 4 75 minute games in front of many of the same coaches, using the different format that we use and created with the Southern Star. That is 100 more minutes on the field in front of the coaches. Usually that equates to 50-75% more at-bats and opportunities. The SEC school that my daughter did sign with saw her play in this event in GA and offered her a visit right after it was over.

It depends on what you are looking for. But what I do know is that every minute you can play in front of the watchful eye of college coaches is worth something. Is it worth these costs? That is up to you. Whether this is worth it or not, depends on your point of view.

    Absolutely

Did Rock Hill and Kent State both and would do it again.

    any exposure is good exposure

Any time you can play in front of college coaches it it good. There are different degrees of good. Does not have to be 100 coaches there, just 1 if it is the right one for you.

If I had a 2nd daughter playing, I would do both (Southern Star and Queen in Rock Hill) again! You never know when the right one will be there.
