Learned at a very young age in elementary school. Been a mainstay of my vocabulary for years. Warms my heart to know that simple minded ol' me could enlighten another.

    Thanks for the link Karl.

I'll be better prepared for the vocabulary and grammatical critique in the future.

If the game went all seven innings then the ten run rule did not come into play. Therefore the IBBs were most likely not disrespectful.

If there is a 0-3 run differential in the score then walking this batter with no runners on is understandable. 0-5 if there are runners on and a base is open.

If there is more then a 5 run differential then the coach may not be being disrespectful, it might be they do not have much confidence in their defense, but they should think that the batter has descent chance of popping up or hitting into an out.

At least they threw four pitches instead of just one each time that batter stepped into the box.

In baseball the lead off hitter in the next half inning will most likely be picking himself up after the first pitch, if there was not a situation that called for the IBB to the opponent's batter.

Softball I have only known one HS pitcher to intentionally hit batters, but I think she was the exception.

As far as an unwritten rule, for the most part softball players do not have the same egos as baseball players and there are very few if any unwritten rules in softball.

Don't get me wrong, softball players have strong competitive natures, and put just as much effort into the game as baseball players, but as far as retaliation it is just not there like it is in baseball.

Everything you said was correct, except the comment that the other team is chicken.

I would say that they have a coach that understands it takes a team to win, not one player.

If you only have one player that can beat me, then you won't win.........

    Exactly . . .

I'm constantly amazed at both the HS and college level how many teams allow the opponents best one or two players beat them. Really dumb! If you have a decent pitcher just pitch around them and get the rest. To do otherwise is simply poor coaching.

    oh well

Pitch to them... 5 walks oh my.... what were the situation w each at bat. I may could see a walk or 2 in the last few times at bat. But she would be looking at pitches in the dirt and a lot of outside or inside pitches and see if she would bite. If she bit things would then change.

That's a great concept in recreation ball. Everyone get's an at bat and 2 innings in the field.

You obviously don't understand what I was talking about in the previous post, which was never let the best player or players on the other team beat you.

Question....in the game where they walked this batter 5 times, who won?

The team that was recieving the attempted intentional walks actually won scoring 7 runs in the top of the 7th. Lead was 8-2 going into the 7th inning. Top of 7th ended with team trying to intentionally walk player again with score now 15-2, coach just had our runner on 2nd leave early after pitcher had threw 2 balls to end inning.

Then you prepared your team well.... The competition took out your best player, and the other 8 responded...

I tell my daughter to not worry about it and to practice her base running. It just makes it sweeter when the one behind her gets a hit.
