First time I have been back to the board and I wanted to see how everything is going. I read the thread by Derek and wanted to give my opinion of a player that I've recently seen play........Ivan Acuna!!!!!!!

He's a young man that recently moved here from Venezuela. To give you an idea how good he is, Ivan came into the East Meck Tournament as a complete unknown; however before he left, opposing teams were lining the fence to watch him hit and field. Young kids were asking for his autograph....and the scouts attending were quickly jotting notes and speed dialing.

Ivan is one of those special players. He is not a pro (prospect) defensively---he is a pro right now. He plays the position with flair, instincts and a plus arm- great feet, quick hands and is always in position. He clearly is mature beyond his years.

Hey, did I mention the kid's bat yet? Well, one game I watched his first at bat and he hammered a ball off the fence-- it hit the wooden fence so hard I thought it might return to the infield---The 2nd at bat, the kid went yard. His last at bat with a runner at 1st he was intentionally walked. This game was against one of the best teams in the state, Marvin Ridge. Now, if you want to get a 2nd opinion contact Mark Mennitt, HC Marvin Ridge. If you need details about Ivan contact Coach Chet Greeson at Hopewell HS.

One last thing, I mentioned how good the player is, but what I haven't said Is he's a better young man.

And for all you recruiters that may have a question about a young man from Venezuela- his English is perfect.

I might just have to see who Hopewell has left on the schedule so that I check this young man out, hopefully something in the southeast portion of Charlotte. If Braves is talking about him, I'm sure he's special. Good Luck Ivan!!

Believe me......he's worth the trip to watch. I forgot to mention what a great leader he is. He's always picking up and cheering on his teammates.

I'm telling' ya, he is almost perfect:biggrinjester:
