    Charlotte Baseball Community:

Yes, you read it right! The 22nd annual Jack Sink Tournament is proud to partner with the Joe Martin ALS Foundation to present an exciting event that will be held on the Monday before the tournament, April 5 at 6:00 PM.

We will be having an Opening Ceremonies at Myers Park which will include a HOMERUN DERBY! Each team will be presented before the derby according to Tuesday's schedule. After the teams are presented, we will start hacking away. There is a professional public announcer coming in to create an unbelievable atmosphere while the kids will be in the outfield shagging.

The purpose of this event is to bring the Charlotte Baseball Community together. We want the younger kids to be able to come out and know who they are watching and follow them at the next level. Baseball in Charlotte is too good for the community not to know who these players and teams are!!

With the teams competing in the tournament this year, we have two state champions (AK and Christian), Providence Day and Country Day who made it to the state semi-finals, Providence who won the SW4A, MP who won the SW4A Conference Tourney, South Meck, the reigning champs of the 2009 Jack Sink, and always competitive Charlotte Latin. The public school/private school debate has been going on for years and each year you see why.

Players competing in the derby: Ty Linton (Christian/UNC), Deuce Wright (South Meck/Spartanburg Meth.), Chase Carbone (Latin/Undecided), Grant Fisher (Myers Park/Undecided), Alex Baker (Ardrey Kell/Georgetown), Truett Langdon (Country Day/Undecided),Brett Austin (Providence/NC State), and Matt Metzger (Providence Day/Auburn).

As you can see, we've got a great line up with some kids that can really put on a show.

More information will be provided on our website (www.mphsbaseball.com) very soon. We will be setting up a link strictly for the Jack Sink where you can follow the tournament. We have already started bringing in sponsors for this event so if you are interested please email me.

Start making plans to come by and check it out......you're not gonna want to miss this one.

    HR Derby

You should get 2 points if you hit it out in CF. This is a great Event, great atmosphere, and some really great crowds last year. Burgers fresh off the grill, tough to beat!

They should have the head coaches at each school take one round as well! It'd be worth the price of admission

Do all the boys get to compete in the HR Derby or only those mentioned above? This is gonna be so much fun! I'm going to take the week off - maybe I'll volunteer - (does drinking beer count?)

Th Coaches round could be sponsored by the Chiropractic and Orthopedic Associations of North Carolina!!! Bags got hurt on the Gatorade bucket Celebration:)

Myers Parks Spencer is still a youngster I would put my money on him.

    Good points!!!

Despite Hignight's diet challenge, beneath that exterior is an athlete. Ask the man to do a split for you...it's unbelievable! And the man has some power left in his bat--I've seen it. And if it came down to he and Spencer, Danny would find a way to distract John.
