    The wood bat contest has become a once a year public-private school showcase and grants some psychological bragging rights for SE Charlotte (Pineville to Mint Hill). Traditional pulic school powerhouses dominated last year. Will this year be different? Top to bottom, the privates may be better than last year but, on paper, the publics appear stronger and far deeper.

    The tournament is at Myers Park HS. Schedule posted below:

    Myers Park-Jack Sink

    Just wanted to say what a great job Myers Park does running this tourney and games in general. From the time you walk through the gate and are greated by the same two people that have always greated you, to the in game trivia, the field, just a good baseball atmosphere. Coach Spencer and Coach Clewis and the rest of the gang at Myers Park do it the right way.

    Day 2 Results

    South Meck 14

    Charlotte Country Day 4

    Sabres fall behind 0-2 then explode for 6 runs in the 5th and add 5 in the sixth.

    Joseph Shealy 2009 earns the win. Jeff Barkley SM goes 2 -3 with a double and 2 RBIs. Justin Ide 2-3 with a double and 2 RBIs for CCDS.


    Myers Park 14

    Charlotte Latin 0

    Chris Overman 2009 pitches MP to victory; striking out 9 in 5 innings and scattering 4 hits. Not official book on MP; leading hitters JD Ey 2009 2 -3; 2B.
    Grant Goodson 2-4; 2RS. Brian Holberton 1-1; 3 RS, RBI.


    Providence Day 3

    Ardrey Kell 2

    Chargers upset the Knights for second year in a row at Jack Sink in extra innngs. Ryan Conrad pitched complete game and helped himself with a number of good defensive plays; held the Knights to 6 hits and in spite of 5 errors behind him held them in check.
    Sam Brinkley drove in the winning run with 2 outs in the eigth; Matt Metzger 2-3 with a HR and scored the winning run.
    Zico Pasut went 2-2 which makes him 6-6 for the event and 2011 Brett Lang was 2-4 with an RBI.


    Charlotte Christian 3

    Providence 2

    Luke Bard gives up 2 in the first off of 1 hit then shuts down the Panthers with 7 Ks and 2 hits. John Kincaid 2010 goes 2-4 and scores 2 runs for the Knights. Ty Linton 2010 1-3 drives in the game winning RBI.
