Watauga erases a 17-point, 4th-quarter deficit to force overtime in Taylorsville.

    84-84

    In progress.

I'll update it as soon as it goes final. Zach Greene had about 20 in the 4th quarter for WHS, but missed a 3 that would've won it at the buzzer, but Mitchell Harris got the put back at the buzzer to force the extra session.

    update

96-95 Watauga after Archer puts back Hardee's miss with 2.7 seconds left. Cougars time out...could WHS lose on a buzzer beater for the second straight night?

    WHS wins.

James missfires at the horn--ball game.

    WHS 96
    ACHS 95 (OT)

WHS improves to 4-2 in the NW4A.

I'll try to steal some stats from the radio in a bit.

    Radio died

Well, maybe no stats, as the connection was lost with the radio folks...

I can add that it was Watauga's 3rd straight road conference win (Freedom, McDowell, Alexander) in which they trailed by 14 or more points.

And the comeback tonight came without leading scorer Seth Moore, who left the game with a sprained knee.

The Titans almost gave this game away. The Titans led the entire game and was up by 20+ in the second half. But Freedom made a huge comeback and had the last shot of the game for the tie and missed. Chris Twitty had 25 for MHS.

    WHAT A GAME!!!

Watauga's comeback @ Alexander Central was amazing. This game had to be the best high school basketball game I have ever watched. The foul differential was 41 to 24 in Alexander's favor. Watauga fought the refs, the crowd, and the defecit to earn this W on the road. After Seth Moore left the game, they played with a lot more intensity and their full court press dominated the Cougars. A lot of players stepped up for Watauga tonight and it was a definate team effort. Alexander was outcoached in the end, and outplayed in the 4th quarter to give Watauga the edge. Alexander played a great game and fought hard, but in the end it couldnt match up to the heart the players from Watauga showed. If not for the game winning shot East Burke made last night to beat Watauga, the Pioneers would be 5-1 in the conference and leading the pack. The NW4A is going to be a toss up in the end, and it should be exciting to see how it turns out.

Just a little info on the ACR/SC game last night. South Caldwell led basically the whole game (22-15 at half, ugly first half), and by as much as 12 in the 4th quarter when DJ Clement decided to start taking over for ACR. He came on and hit 4 straight 3 pointers in the last 3 minutes of the ball game to help bring ACR back, then hit 2 FT to tie the game with :36 seconds to go to even up the game at 53. SC had an opportunity to take the last shot but a body block by one player on Albert Anderson was called and ACR got the ball with :7 left and DJ's final shot in regulation fell short off the rim. In Overtime ACR dominated and hit all their FT's down the stretch to outscore SC 17-9 for the hard fought victory. DJ Clement finished with 28 points (18 of which came in the 4th quarter), Albert Anderson chipped in with 13, while Ted Eby had 10. Very nice comeback by ACR in the final few minutes of the 4th quarter.
