Coach Rogers for Freedom was ejected with .9 sec left in the game. Unless they have changed the state rules, that is an automatic 2 game suspension. That will hurt this ball club. by the way, I can see why he was upset, but think it might have gone just a little too far. Nuff said.....

Overall, a hard fought game by both ball clubs. Way to go men. Both teams deserved to win this one.

Why does a ref eject a coach with .9 seconds left in a game? Was this the same refs that counted a basket that never went in a couple of weeks ago when Reynolds played Watauga? Unless Coach Rogers threw a chair on the floor I think the refs need to hand the player the ball and let him throw it in and then get off the floor. If the refs blew the game - then a coach has a right to get pissed. I wish I could have seen this game.

I saw the game and I will back up Freedom's coach on this one. Their player got fouled hard on a shot and wouldve been given two free throws that couldve tied the game. All he did was yell at the refs while the Freedom player was lying on the ground after getting fouled in the face. I dont know exactly what he said but I don't think that it was anything bad. I agree 100% that he should not have been ejected with .9 seconds left and the ref took it too far. Hard fought game for both teams, but it was a shame it ended like that.

I think it had to do with the fact that the coach was about.. oh .... 15 ft on the court in the ref's face... that was the first one.... the second one came from language I believe..... won't get into what was said, let's just say that it was bad..... I respect Coach Rogers so I won't say anything else.

Watauga was up 62-60. A few seconds left, Mack ( I believe that is who it was) got an offensive rebound and put it up, the ball bounced off the rim to the front, Michaux got the rebound and threw up a shot. He probably got fouled, but there was such a fight for the ball couldn't tell who actually hit him..... it was a flurry of action in the last few seconds.....Watauga's final points came from the technical free throws. And believe it or not, it wasn't the same crew that blew the basket against ACR.

Both teams played hard. HAted to see either one lose this one. Watauga actually came from 10 points down in the 4th quarter to win this one. Seems to be a trend for this team.

First of all, amazing game, Watauga trailed most of the game but not by as many as we normally are. JR Archer had an incredible night and really saved Watauga, he really was our only offense.

Now to the final five seconds. Michaux got the ball at the foul line and threw up a shot and was hit on the play by Zach Greene. He was hit in the face and layed face down on the ground, Zach was not being flagrant and did not mean to hit him. The ball was knocked around and knocked out of bounds of Freedom. Watauga ball, Michaux on the ground.

Coach Rogers goes balistic. When you go as far as he did, anybody should and would have tossed him. Like mountainball said, I respect and like Coach Rogers alot and will not get into what was said. Just vulgar and over the line. Did he have a reason to be upset, YES. He had every right. It was a foul. But you don't go that far.

Coach Rogers was not going to allow the game to go on because he was 15 ft on the floor.

Then he kinda prolonged his time on the floor and had to be escourted to the locker room by multiple people.

Anyway, good game, great for WHS to sweep Freedom. Sets up a huge game Friday for 1st. At least we got the mens basketball team. Nuff said.

I think it is interesting how we were talking about officiating at Watauga earlier this year in another thread and then this happens.

I feel for Coach Rogers because he is young and inexperienced and obviously lost his cool at what was by all accounts a bush league call at the most inopportune time-hopefully he will learn from this and as the years go by he will get better at keeping his emotions in check.

The officiating in the conference has been very poor this year-more so than normal. Something is going to have to be done before we have a situation worse than this happen at a game.

    rule

Coach Rogers may not have to sit out a game. It's up to the officials and whether they ruled it an ejection or a disqualification. If it's a disqualification, then he can coach the next game. If the official ruled it an ejection then he's done for a game or two. Whatever the ruling is. I watched both games and the officiating in the girls game was very good, in the boys game it was suspect. The official that gave Rogers his tech was probably the best in the leauge. Bad thing is he was with a very weak crew. I would like to know where the good officials are, night in and out you get q good official and 2 crappy ones.

It was officially an ejection. He got tech 1, then tech 2 and a toss. The guy that tossed him is a very good official. The other two were not as good. They missed alot. He will miss an entire week of games, which will include Friday and Tuesday and a 100 dollar fine.

One of which that they missed was right in front of me. John McGregor picks the pocket of the Freedom point guard clean as can be, FOUL.

Then next time down the floor John mugs the point guard and takes the ball away, NO FOUL.
