I saw this on ESPN today and thought it should be brought up in here. But while standing in the on deck circle he was hit in the eye from a foul ball. They are saying he may never play again and they hope to restore his vision in his eye. So lets just keep him in our prayers and hopefully he can bounce back form this.

    safety

a minor league 1st base coach gets hit and killed by a batted ball and now this.
is it time to improve safety by requiring some type of face guard helmet?

    Not sure

where each were located. I know the coach was somewhere near the coaches box. Player was in the on deck circle. Maybe adjusting the coaches box distance or some type of protected head gear for the coaches. The on deck circle may need some type of screening or relocation. I seen umps not letting a batter go to the other on deck circle to get to the backside of a batter. Think that could be an option. With injuries being so rare I do not see them move to fast on it. Could be wrong but who knows.
