The Heat

It looks like the Heat will be bringing the heat to the Asheville area, as the temps are going to be near record highs this weekend pushing 90 degrees. So much for that cool mountain air, maybe we will catch a break and it will only be mid 80's. Good Luck to all the Teams playing this weekend and enjoy the mountain scenery.

 

Dirtbags

Dirtbags take on the Marucci Royals out of Louisiana today in East Cobb at 4:30. Early reports out from down there is that the 'Bags will be sending Benton Moss (Rockt Mount - UNC) to the hill.

Won 8-6 over the 2011 South Charlotte Panthers. McCain 3-4 2 2b's, RBI, Burris (Mt. Plesant) HR 3 RBI, Powell (Myers Park) 2-3, Patterson (Ardrey Kell)3-3

2011 O's Orange

Won 13-3 over Asheville, Brett Thompson (Marvin Ridge) and Austin Hicks (Nation Ford) two hits a piece. Kevin Wentzel (lake Norman) got the win.

Won 13-11 over Watauga, Collin Keefer (Ardrey Kell)1-3 2B, 4 RBI, Jacob Rand (Parkwood) 1-2 2B 3 RBI. Anthony Allende (Mt. Pleasant) got the win in relief.

2012 Black 2-0 with wins over the Heat 17-1 and the Megastars 4-3.

2012 orange 1-1 with a victory 17-3 over CBC Navy.

JMU Showcase

The new stadium at JMU is beautiful the entire playing surface is astro turf...very nice complex with the softball field right next door as well.

Great seeing my buddies coaches Mike and Matt of the Dominion Dragons and coach Tim of the Hitters Warehouse Team.

A great weekend of showcase baseball. Lots of college coaches including Coach Nick Schnabel of ECU and Brandon Hall of UNCC.

 

Great Event

Bags go undefeated in pool play and reach quarterfinals but lose a tough one to the East Cobb Braves. Benton Moss tosses 7 great innings allowing only 4 hits but one of them was a solo shot and Bags lose 1-0

 

Props for the Umpire Crew

Have to give an ata boy to the umpire crew at TC Roberson (Heat Tournament) on Sunday morning for the Heat Vs On-Deck O's game. Both really worked well together, kept the game moving, and seemed genuinely happy to be there with the boys. There were some close calls, but both were happy to let the coaches know exactly what they saw and why the call was made. The rest of the time you didn't even know they were there. Just a well run ballgame. Salute!

 

On Deck O's 2013 Black 3-0-1 on the weekend with wins over Heat 2013 Black & Red, Watauga, and a 3-3 tie vs. Megastars 15/16U. Great weekend of baseball in Ashville.
