Cherryville has a 7-5 lead over Rocky Mount after 5 complete innings...sounds like it might be a slugfest and/or sloppy.

cary/pineville was an awesome game. hats off to pineville's starter who went about 8 innings. both teams had plenty of chances. cary found a way to finish on top. cary's matt ruth stepped up big off the bench and nolan poythress looked good coming in during a tight situation and very much deserved the W. great junior legion baseball.

3 western teams and 1 eastern team in the winners bracket tomorrow evening.

    Kelsely....

Mooresville won last night. Billy Nantz scored on a wild pitch, then hit a two run bomb over the left field (335) fence with Mays on. Funny thing is that earlier in the at bat he hit a shot down the line that was called foul. Bet Kinston wishes it was called fair instead. It must have been foul because the coach did not argue the call and we all know coach will argue a bad call! I think they scored another, but I did not hear how as I was busy at the time. They play Cherryville tonight. Hope they keep winning. Bonnie got the win. Weird thing was that Mason was chased in the first inning after allowing two men to reach base without getting an out. He usually pitches better than that, so look for him to rebound at some point with a quality outing. Bonnie came in and shut the door not giving up a run. That was huge at the time.

This was an awesome game!! Pineville's starter Derek Ham went 8 strong innings and kept a tough hitting Cary team well off balance. Cary had only 4 or 5 hits thru 7. Many of the states legion directors were on hand to witness this one!

Pineville went ahead 1 - 0 on a line shot 2-out single by Ryan Glass in the 4th and had their chance to win it in the bottom of the 7th. Cary was able to tie the game on a miscue at 1B.

This was one of those games that you just knew these were 2 well matched teams and the winner would be whoever got the break!!

Many thanks to the those responsible for letting Junior Legion baseball use Grainger Stadium and Lenoir Community College facilities!!

Hopefully Pineville will see them again on Sunday!!
