HEY NCBBALLFAN... HERE ARE A FEW NAMES OF PLAYERS TO WATCH IN THE NPC THIS YEAR.

AL BROWN:BATTLES,MEAD,QUERY,PETTY AND D.SMITH...BROWN LOST A LOT OF TALENT OFF LAST YEARS CO-CHAMPION SQUAD.

NORTHWEST CABARRUS: DALTON,GOODMAN,MCKNIGHT,PATTERSON AND SOME OTHER TALENTED PLAYERS SHOULD MAKE ALOT OF NOISE THIS YEAR.

WEST ROWAN:ADAMS.LINK,WILSON,WALLER AND OTHERS WILL HAVE TO BE DEALT WITH.

EAST ROWAN:STEEDLY.COOPER,CAUBLE AND POOLE WILL COME TO PLAY.

    MOORESVILLE: COULD BE A SLEEPER.

THE REST ARE A TOSS UP..SHOULD BE INTERESTING.

Have any of you gotten a chance to see Kyle Josey play. If so then you have most likely seen his potential. He is a sophmore for Butler, and is just an all around good kid. But what he can do on a baseball field is unreal and I fully expect him to be one of the top players in the SW4A this season.

Redtroll.... If you could, give us the skinny on Butler this year. All the people from the SW4A know about HausHalter but few people from outside of the SW4A know much about the guys down there EXCEPT it's a fine group of ball players that no one wants to go play!

    Thanks

Brain Johansen is another good Bulldog. My son got to play with Brian and Haushalter a few years ago and I got to see both of them play. I think Brian has done a good job for Butler, switching back and forth between short and second. Ryan has also done a good job going from being a full time catcher to full time pitcher.

I hate to list names this early in the season for fear of jinxing a specific player or leaving someone out,,,, but I will say that the freshman class at Northwest Cabarrus is as strong as anybody's,,, anywhere,,, at any level.

In fact, the freshmen at NW are "SO" strong, that some of them may see varsity action this spring for sure...

    Hopewell

Hopewell has a very small sophomore class. With the large senior class and decent sized junior class, no real varsity action is to be expected from this group.

The freshman class is very decent but not very deep. All of the pitching will come from the freshmen class who could struggle for awhile.

Summary: The future prospects are not very bright at Hopewell. This may be their "Year in the sun" - my next year, they will be competing for a top spot again, but no longer be favored. By 2005, they will be down, struggling to compete.

The have a limited number of true varsity players in the pipeline.

    North Meck

North Meck has stripped it's JV team of a large group of leaders, moving them to Varsity for this year's campaign. The surprising thing is that they won't be missed that much. North's sophomore and freshmen classes are that large & deep.

Zack Rosenbaum (P) 6'3" Sophomore, IMHO is a future D1 Top 25 pitcher. Greg Allen (P/1B) 6'5" Sophomore will become a solid Varsity pitcher. This year, he should get the innings he needs to start the process. Both should get some varsity innings this year, but you want your 05's pitching, not sitting. The infield & outfield are solid. Daniel Whitmire & David McAuley will lead the infield. Two lefty pitchers are also 05's - Brandon Kelly & Alan Parks. Parks should anchor CF for the team.

The fresh/sophs up on varsity: Tom Porter (P/1B), Sam Pierce (P/SS), John Kellett (3B), Michael Cavasinni (2B), Robert Profitt (C). Newcomer Zack Pou is also a player that bears watching.

JV Baseball is ruled year in and year out by Alexander Central High School..They have lost 5 games or less over the past 3 years, and this year are lead by a few strong sophomores, and will have plenty of help year from a promising freshman class..ACHS will be going for a 4th consecutive NW4A Championship..
