    The Blue Devils were on the bad side of an ass whoopin' in the first half but managed to hold the War Eagles to only 6 points. That score came on their first offensive possession of the game. Mooresville could do nothing on offense and was getting beat badly up front on both sides of the ball. The only bright spot was an interception by LB Prath Bruton. But John Farr returned the opening kick-off of the second half deep into War Eagle territory and on the very next play Soph. QB Nathan Abraham hit Freshman HB James Cloud on a slant and Cloud fought his way into the end zone. The score remained tied at 6 until a bad 4th quarter punt gave Mooresville the ball at the Davie Co. 38. But Mooresville stalled inside the Davie Co. 20 yd. line and the field goal unit was sent in on 4th and 5 from the 17. Abraham's kicked skimmed the cross bar as the refs raised their arms. Mooresville could have tacked on an insurance score as the seconds ticked away but decided to take a knee on three straight downs.

    Great home opener for the Tigers. It was 35-0 at the half. Ragsdale turned it over on downs several times inside the 20 or it could have been much worse. Two quaterbacks ( a soph and a freshman) split time and both looked good. I think each TD was scored by a different player.

    Defense was tough - I don't think Central ever crossed the 50. Special teams blocked several punts, kicking game looked good. The JV squad is full of athletes even though several sophs moved up to varsity.

    I'm hoping the varsity can look as good tomorrow night but they have way too many first time starters on offense.
