    Hopewell 7 - JM Robinson - 0

    Strong Bats across the line-up for Hopewell in this game, particularly by Fisher, Hughes, White, Auten, Christian and Guerrier. A lot of JV players who have seen little to no action so far this year got a chance to play defense and/or swing the bat as well. Winning pitcher was Jack Lane who went the first 4 innings. Titan save goes to Rusty White who pitched the last 3 innings. Both had good control and speed, mixing up the pitches effectively. Rematch in a couple of weeks.

    Both teams plated 4 in the first and then cooled off at the plate. Watauga escapes with a one run win over the Titans in Boone for the second straight year. The Pioneers improve to 7-2 in the NW4A.

    Providence 3 South Meck 6

    Providence JV was outplayed tonite by South Meck behind sophomore Jordan Darnell who was easily throwing mid 80's holding Providence to only 5 hits. The Panthers had the bases loaded and no outs in the 5th but could only muster one run. The teams spilt their season series.

    Providence 11 Independence 1

    Eric Semeniuk hit a 2run homer in the first, Tim Ogden hit a 3run blast in the second and Richie Shaffer pitched 5 innings allowing 1 hit. Providence moves to 12-2 on the season with West Stanly up tomorrow and East Meck on Friday.

    Eddie Mullins was superb with the 5 inning, complete game shut out. Davis Martin and Chris James continued swinging hot bats.

    4/20 -- Hopewell 13, Harding 3 (5 innings)

    WP - Rusty White

    Kudos to Harding for being a "never quit" team. They continued to play with their heads up even when things weren't going well - showing alot of character. Game was called after 5 innings, with White pitching the complete game for the Titans - 4 hits, 9 strikeouts. Hopewell used the opportunity to to give the inexperienced players some much needed time to overcome some nervousness at the plate and work through the defensive errors. The Rams had some good defensive plays of their own, and came up to the plate with aggressiveness. It was good to see Harding field both a JV team and Varsity team this year - hats off to the team and the coaches.
