    Continued....

(3/24) Game picked up in the bottom of the 5th with SM coming up to bat. Game ended:

    Butler JV 7
    SM JV 2

Following the finish of this game, the JV squads played a 7 inning pick-up game. (This game does not officially count in the books but was still loads of fun to watch). Alot of lead changes....alot of energy....alot of interesting things happening (especially the part where the ump behind the plate starting making his own rules!)!!

    Final of the pick-up game:

    Butler JV 7
    SM JV 11

    South Caldwell JV team

Has anyone got a little more detail on the South Caldwell JV team? Seen a few comments on high run production. Is the team as a whole producing a lot of runs or is there a few players mostly doing it? Any info would be appreciated.

When you are averaging 21.2 runs per game it is pretty much the whole team doing the hitting. This team has yet to play a full 7 inning game as every game has been stop by the mercy rule. They have also had one Pefect Game pitched and have allowed only a handful of runs all year. What is even more impressiveis that SC's no. 1 pitcher on varsity is a sophmore also their starting catcher and another varsity pitcher is a freshman.

Rocky Mount's J.V team is playing well right now. They are 7-2,with both losses coming to Southern Nash. They recently avenged that loss by beating them 3-0 in an Easter tournament with the 4 Nash County teams participating.Freshman Ryan Waldrep threw a 2-hitter,and in the championship game, freshman William Barringer threw a 2-hitter himself, helping Rocky Mount win the tournament championship over rival Northern Nash 2-0.

Indepence JV vs N Meck JV

    Independence 4- N Meck 5

Tough loss for the Indep JV. Independence led the entire game, threatening to give N Meck their first loss. The starting pitcher for Independence did an outstanding job on the hill through six innings. He also had a double and a single giving Independence all four of their runs ( 4 RBI) ( Sorry, I do not have his name) (Can someone help with the pitchers's name?)

Thomas Ulmer started for N Meck and was relieved by Kyle Mastriani. Mastriani was outstanding in his first relief appearance this year. He shut down a hot hitting Independence team, allowing only one hit in two innings.

Bottom of the 7th w/ Indpendence leading 4-2 the N Meck bats finally woke up.
With one out, Patrick Ledford got an infield hit, followed by a double by Shane Brown. With runners on second & third, Aaron Plummer ripped a single to left to tie the game. Eric Shoemaker singled to put runners on the corners. Next hitter grounds out to the pitcher (runner advanced to second). With runners on second & third Independence intentionally loaded the bases. Andrew Fox drew a four pitch walk to end the game. Great all around game. Tough loss for Independence.

That's great news about Kyle Mastroianni. Independence is always a great opponent. Thomas Ulmer has been great all season too.

When you mix in the potential of Brandon Whitt (Soph) and Patrick Sherrill (Jr), both on varsity, North looks to pick up next year on the mound without missing a beat.

    Watauga @ Rose JV

    Rose 9
    WHS 6

Four unearned runs spoil Pioneers' upset bid at the JV level. WHS hit a pair of homers.

Varsity game: WHS leads 1-0 in the second, suspended due to lights and will hopefully be completed tonight at 7ish at Guy Smith.
