SOUTH CALDWELL JV SEEM TO BE BACK ON TRACK

Easter break seemed to cool off the bats a little, but they seem to be warming back up.

Good hitting team with solid defense, this team is for real.

4-21-05 Played a good Ashbrook team at their place (and what a beautiful field it is)...

    South Caldwell JV - 8
    Ashbrook JV - 0

Butler JV vs. South Meck JV (4/26)

Double header between 2 very well matched teams....

First game was a carry-over from last Friday nights washout. The game continued in the 2nd (score 2-1 SM) with Bulldog runners on 2nd and 3rd. The Dawgs tied it at 2. SM went ahead in the 4th on a solo HR that landed in the swamp beyond left field. Matt Robinson (Butler 1B) matched that in the next inning (didn't quite make the swamp!) with 1 runner on to put Butler ahead 4 - 3. Final score Butler JV 4, SM JV 3.

Second game would be just as exciting!! Cory Mullis started on the bump for Butler. This was his first outing in over a month. The Dawgs were down 2-0 after the first inning but came back strong in the next inning started by a well executed bunt by Butler 3B Hunter Glass and a questionable call at 1B (he was safe!! lol!!). Regardless, the dawgs were ahead 3 - 2 when the inning was over. The lead would continue to change throughout the remainder of the game. When it was over, Butler JV 7, SM JV 6.

Two excellent games by 2 very closely matched teams....

Butler JV continues play this Friday night in a pickup game at Providence (are we ever gonna play them at home!!?)

    Person JV Team

As of 4/27/05 the Person JV Baseball team has an overall record of 13-2, 3-1 in PAC-6 Play. Person's only losses are to Wakefield and conference foe Riverside.

    JV OBSERVATION

South Caldwell JV is currently 15 - 1 with 3 games left.

Outstanding year so far: SC JV: 232 runs / Opponents: 34 runs

Majority of games have been stopped by mercy rule, and starters have only averaged playing 3 1/2 innings per game.

SC Class of '07 is loaded. If they keep working hard and getting better, they should have the best shot at bringing a 4A state title to South since the '82-'83 Class.

Anyone got further information on this class?

West forsyth has a very good JV team. They WON the CPC conference by beating Davie twice. They have a great pitching staff with 3 starters and two relievers. They lost to Davie in a lop sided game when the coach was disciplining some starters over their spring break week. They also lost to South Rowan in a 4-1 game.

They did this with 8, count 'em, 8 sophs on varsity, 3 being starting pitchers, and 2 others making All Conference Varsity as Freshmen last year.

They will be good in the future!!

Butler JV vs. East Meck JV (5/3)

    Butler JV - 8
    EM JV - 8

Unfortunately the time limit got these teams with the score knotted!! EM JV went ahead in the bottom of the 6th on a 3 run HR. Butler came up in the top of the 7th to score 3.

Why can't you just let these kids play!!

The JV Bulldogs have been providing fans with comebacks all season long! They have been fun to watch. Their teamwork, motivation and 'never say die' attitudes have kept them in every game and created another winning season for Coaches Edwards and Cottom.

Regular season play ends tonight with Butler hosting Myers Park.

Games ended because of time limits

I share the frustration of many JV parents and fans when the games are called (even if tied) after the time limit (no inning shall start after 6:30PM) has been reached. This of course takes place in the 2nd half of the season when the JV and Varsity play back to back. Many times the umpires will not start a new inning even if it is getting close to the 6:30PM deadline and I can understand their logic (some innings could take an hour to finish). That would push back the Varsity Game starts to after 8PM and if those games go the full 7 innings; the games would end at approx 10:30 or 11PM mostly on school nights. It is further exasperating that many JV games that are rained out are not made up because they are just not deemed important enough? Many JV Teams end up only playing maybe 14 games out of a possible 20 or so, because of non made up games or the other High School doesnt have a JV Squad. I cant see why when this is the circumstance that a game with an out of conference team cant be scheduled. These JV kids work real hard to try to elevate their games and I feel the High Schools have a responsibility to them to maximize their participation during the season. :bananalam
