Since nobody had started this thread, need information on what's going on in Kannapolis with the Cabarrus County teams, Weddington, and Providence. Would like to get 2nd round matchups as they take shape, along with times.

    Wed. schedule (I think)
10am - JM Robinson vs. Central Cabarrus
    1pm - Concord vs. Providence
4pm - NW Cabarrus vs. Weddington
7pm - AL Brown vs. Mount Pleasant

    NW Cabarrus - 7 Weddington - 3 (8 innings)

A pitching duel between NW's Blake Ketner (Ketner gave up 3 runs in the 4th, he was hit earlier by a line drive and I think his leg was tightening up) and Weddington's Shane Earnhardt brought All-American Kyle Seager to the plate with NW down 3-2, two outs and speedster Conner Bean in scoring position at 2nd base. Seager then calmly rips the 2 out pitch into the right field corner for a double and drives in the tying run. :Woot_Emot :applause:

Northwest then proceeded to dismantle the Warriors with 4 runs on 4 hits in the 8th inning to set-up a semi-final rematch with Central Cabarrus at 4:00 Thursday afternoon. :fight:

    PITCHING:
    NW:
    WP - Ketner (3-0), 7 innings, 4 hits, 3 ER, 8 K's
(Joe Kent pitched the final frame)

    WHS:
    LP - Sain
    Earnhardt, 7 innings, 6 hits, 3 ER, 9 K's

    HITTING
    NW:
    Kyle Seager, 2-5, 2B, game-tying RBI with 2 outs in 7th
    Jake Faggart, 2-5, 2B, 2 RBI
    Justin Rodriguez, 2-4, 2 RBI
    Nick Daniels, 2-4
Conner Bean (even though he had no hits, his speed caused 3 throwing errors and he also had a nice sacrfice bunt in the 8th)

    WHS:
Zack Winchester, 2 RBI, almost the star of the game for Weddington.

NEXT UP: SHOWDOWN:The #6 (NC Preps 3A Top 10) Trojans try to avenge thier only loss this season against Central Cabarrus at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium tomorrow at 4pm. :fight:

    Thursday 10am game

    AL Brown 4
    Concord 0

Garrett Sherrill shut the door on the Spiders, throwing a 1-hitter. He also had two hits out of the Wonders total of 11.

Not sure if they'll get any more in today...they were covering the field as soon as this game was over.

Last thing I heard was that the NW Cabarrus/Central Cabarrus game is slated for 7pm, which means Robinson and Weddington must be playing now.

If you're going north on I-85, leave plenty of time. It is a nightmare in Cabarrus County, all the way up to the exit at Intimidator Stadium.

It's one of those situations where you can't get there from here....

Here is a route option from the south...

Go up I-77 to exit 25 ... Go east NC 73 all the way to Highway 29 (go over I-85).

On Highway 29, go left and then get on I-85 NORTH bound there at exit 58 (Highway 29/601) where all the trouble is.

If anyone else knows a better route than fighting the traffic north on I85 or going North on 29, I wish they would post it.

This route skips most of the bad traffic but you are going around a proverbial body part to get to another body part. At least one of the two body parts is unmentionable.

You can just stay on 29 N about 4 miles past 85 and turn right onto Lane Street (its the first stop light after you go under the 1st St. overpass). The Entrance to the stadium is a couple miles on your left (Lane St. is exit 63 off I85).

Also, it might be quicker(vs. using I77) to use 485 to get to US 29 near the University area. I'm not the expert on the Charlotte area, though!
