    NW Cabarrus 6 PHS 1

NW Cabarrus WON the Kannapolis Intimidator Classic beating PHS 6-1. The Trojans scored 5 runs in the bottom of the fourth to go up 5-1 and scored another insurance run in the 5th. PHS shot itself in the foot allowing NWC to score 3 runs on 3 walks, a hit batter, an infield hit and a costly 2-run infield error. Tourney MVP Kyle Seager plated the other 2 runs of the inning on a double to left field. NWC's pitcher (#21) quieted a Potent PHS Lineup and PHS never really seriously threatened. HATS off to the Tourney CHAMPS. They played like Champions!!

Panthers David Mailman and Shane Small were named to the ALL TOURNEY TEAM. Congrats.

    (#7 3A) NW Cabarrus - 6 (#9 4A) Providence - 1 (Intimidator Championship)

CONGRATS, NW CABARRUS TROJANS!!!!!! Tournament Champions!!!!!
    :trophy:
No "Cardiac-Finish" to this one. A pitching duel between Robby Gurley and Providence's starting pitcher, Mitch Besselievre, was broken up when the Trojans scored 5 runs in the bottom of the fourth to go up 5-1 (I'm not sure how many runs were earned, Providence made a costly 2-run fielding error that extended the inning.) NW scored another insurance run in the 5th for a 6-1 lead. Gurley struck out the side in the 4th and 5th innings before he had to leave in the 6th due to back spasms. Justin Wallace, whose off-speed pitches seem to perfectly compliment Gurley's fastballs, pitched the final 1.1 innings.

    WP - Gurley (2-0), 4 hits, 9 KOs, 0 ER

NWC All-Tournament Team: Connor Bean and Robby Gurley. :applause:

Tournament MVP: All-American Kyle Seager, of course. Kyle had 2 RBIs in tonight's win for a total of 9 RBIs for the tournament. :applause:

:anon: I'll try to post NWC tournament batting averages if the paper prints a box score tomorrow. I wasn't keeping score at this one. (yes, it was cold) :anon:

NEXT UP: The (10-1) Trojans face the hot-hitting South Rowan Raiders Monday night, the last non-conference game of the regular season. :trophy:

    Bad Luck Panthers Jacket

My apologies to the Providence High School Varsity Baseball team. I wore my Carolina Panthers heavy weight jacket to the game last night v NW Cabarrus (6-1 Loss). It was the second time I've worn the jacket to a game this year due to COLD WEATHER. The other time was to the North Meck game (3-0 Loss).

We will have the official burning of the jacket whenever you guys say!! I promise, no matter how cold it might get from here on out, the jacket remains in the closet (or will be put to ashes)!!

Go get Garinger, JM Robinson and Olympic this week!

Someone should start a thread on baseball superstitions; I've always found that where I stand or sit has always had a dramatic impact on the game. :PubDrink:
