    Puttingood,

I spent quiet a few hrs. at the Kannapolis Library compiling all that info. I am still planning on adding some scores to more of the yrs. I just haven't found the time and I am going to have to purchase more space from RR to get it done. I have used up just about all the free space.

I have been a fan for 40 yrs. It's hard for my memory to go way back, but I certainly remember some of the names. Looking back, I see Marvin played in '58. Also Dandy Dan Dayvault in '67, playing with a guy named Stanback. AndySmith, I remember very well, tall and lanky, compiled a 25-3 record in the '91-'92 years. After he graduated, he was going to be involved in baseball as a pitcher. Never did hear how that turned out.

    Lots of Tradition !!!!!!

Haskel Stanback is the guy you speak of. I believe Haskel was selling real estate in Atlanta when I talked to him about 10 years ago. Haskel played for U.T. and then the Atlanta Falcons and was the first black man at our school. He later went to Brown. Haskel and me use to play ball on Sundays at the old Carver High School. The Stanbacks are good people and Haskel is a fine man .

I noticed you had some names mixed up on your homepage. I know all them guys. Brought back some good memories. The guy on the left in the pic above is Marvin and he is my cousin. You have several other pics of my cousins on your site. Marvin could have been a contender. Freddy went on to race stock cars . Harry is working for a newspaper and Lacy played with Denver for a few years after turning down a pro baseball contract. Several of them boys were highway patrolmen but most of them are dead. Life expectancy in Kannapolis use to be below average.;)
I haven't seen Dan Dayvault since the old Charlotte semi-pro team folded and never paid nobody but he is probably out there somewhere.
Nice homepage you have there. I can probably dig up some old pics from those days for you.
Thanks for having that page up. I may make a few phone calls and check on the boys.:)

I certainly remember Haskel. I left his first name off because I knew you would know who I was talking about. My wife graduated in '66, right before Haskel started playing. I saw all the games he played in. He was some kind of RB, wasn't he?

I knew what kind of history Brown had, I wanted to share it with everyone. Hence, the website.

Got to hang up now, my favorite westerns are about to start 0n cable channel 76 at 12:00. "Have gun, will travel", and "Gunsmoke".

    Talk to you later.

    I remember Haskell Stanback... braves

I'll tell you a story one day about Haskel. You know me so you can imagine the first day of school and Haskel being the first black person to get on the bus and these 2 boys decided they didn't want his kind on that bus. It rubbed me the wrong way:D
You know that Billy Jack attitude of mine.:)

Lacy was cut by Denver before the regular season started that year , and was never offered a pro baseball contract, although he did have what amounted to a pro softball contract , and has since become a licensed electrician in NC .
