Kudos to the Fort Mill Stingers

This was my first experience with college summer baseball and it has been all I could have asked for and more. I would like to pass out some special thanks to the Stingers:

1 - GM Pete Bogert – thanks for putting together a first class organization and making game day a fun experience.

2- Coach Spencer - I got a chance to speak with Coach last Friday night after our last home game. What a great young man and a wonderful role model. He is also a Stinger alumnus. While my son was struggling at the plate, he did not play in college in 2011, he still wanted to help the team so Coach let him pitch. What a wonderful experience and we were able to see him pick up his first college pitching win. I am happy to say that his bat started to come around at the end of the season. That’s for your confidence in our son and all the other Stinger players.

3 - Radio man Will Long -- this young man, who does Georgia Tech baseball, gave up his entire summer to announce our games. His knowledge of the game for such a young person is unbelievable. His preparation for the games is obvious when you listen to him.

4 - JP - - What a wonderful PA man. His love for the game and this team is so obvious. Great walk up and between inning music. The video of the home games was a great idea. JP was instrumental in getting the host families set up and what a great group of parents he got on board.

5 - The host families – I can’t say enough about how much all of you mean to the players and their families. Without you there would probably not be any summer baseball anywhere. I am sure there were a million other “fun summer” activities you could have chosen to pass your summer. You all fed our boys between games and made them a part of your family for almost two months. My son thoroughly enjoyed being a Big Brother and taking the day trips on his off days. Special thanks to John, Ann and Nick for all you did. We all will also miss your new family pet and watching Deuce grow into a big dog!
