Kudos to USA Baseball Tryouts

    I spent Monday and Tuesday with Jeff Schaeffer and the guys running the USA baseball tryouts at Wingate. I had a great time umpiring and was able to see some great kids compete for spots on the final roster. Anthony DeMino (North Meck) and Matthew Weddington (West Caldwell) had a great couple of days. KJ from Ft. Mill did well in the 15's division. It was a really fun couple of days. Coach Gregory and the staff from Wingate did a great job prepping the field after the rain on Monday night and hosting the event. Schaef and his staff ran a first class operation as always. I enjoy being part of and seeing so many different avenues of competition for young, aspiring ballplayers in this area. Good luck to all who tried out over the 2 days. There was a lot of competition and no matter how the team shakes out they are going to be tough to beat.

    Chris McCue

    The best prospect I saw at these tryouts was Chris McCue.

    Chris is a UNC commit RHP who has been consistently in the 90-93 range this summer. He was untouchable at the tryout and is a good bet to make the USA team.
