I respectfully disagree with you and think it is safe to have a blanket statement for this situation. Anyone can justify any given situation should they choose too, the real question is it right to do so? Any rational individual can't possible think children should be making decision that will impact their lives. It's also easy to say a kid is mature enough, has done her research and so on and so on. It's just a justification in my book to allow such a decision.

As far as your question, if that player is a "stud" shouldn't she only progress as she gets older??? If a coach wanted them at age 14, they should have no problem waiting 2 years. Now lets flip it around, should that same "stud" player stay at the same level, meaning not progress her skill set over the next 3-4 years. She verbally commits to said school at age 14 and now it's time to move on to the next level and said coach/school is no longer interested. How has that done any good for that kid? Before anyone jumps in saying verbal's are only verbal's and nothing more, lets not forget if a kid decides to change their mind and not go the a school that they committed to.... well I think we all know what is said about honoring a commitment. I think ever coach has a responsibility to mentor these kids and advising a child to make this type of decision at that age is just flat out wrong. If the kid loves said school at age 14 then she should still love said school at age 16, 17 or 18.

Once again, I'll ask the same question for the 3rd time, how young is to young??

So what do you do - your freshman daughter gets an offer from FSU, UNC and UGA with a 4 month deadline. Do you say no in hopes that ACC or SEC is still an option when she is a junior?

my dd changed her mind about what school she would attend at least ten times between 13 and 18....probably more.....something in the back of my mind says this is more about a coach saying: "Hey look what I did" or a parent being able to say my kid is 14 and already signed.....either way it makes no sense to lock a young lady in at that age when she really doesn't have the mental ability or stability to make that decision.....hey, she's still a woman, her mind is going to change constantly....I have zero respect for the coaches who are charting this area......I believe it is something that should of not been pursued period.....I would really like to add something a bit more vicious, but its the holidays, and im gonna be good...to a point

You guys are great - trashing on a situation because you don't like the coach. If it works for the kid and the family, who are we to say it is wrong? I am sure NC State would have waited 2 years until the player was a Junior anyway - should have just waited.

Best of luck to this 2019 and all other kids that are achieving dreams. Don't let other people with different life experiences ruin it for you and your family.

If your daughter is or was given an ultimatum to choose a school with a 4 month deadline at age 14, well that should tell you volumes about that college coach, no matter what school or conference it is. A young girl has enough pressure at that age without something like that coming into play. I can certainly tell you if my daughter was told something like that..... I wouldn't consider that school as an option for her to continue her education.

Are times changing for the better???? I think NOT

Cheese, I guess we are the only that feel this way regarding 14 year old making life altering & changing decision. My daughter like yours, changed her mind several times before she finally settled on the school she attends. There were many time that she wanted to commit after she made a visit or someone came calling but I wouldn't let her. I felt she needed more time, visits, exposure and to mature to make a competent and intelligent decision that she wouldn't regret. Maybe both of us really are behind the times????? Nah, I think we both see and know the right way to guide and lead. As far as the others......... well I'm not so sure about them

    Oh my

I dont think you are by yourself. I think college coaches have 1 agenda.... WIN..
I've seen coaches get a Stud recruit or what ever recruit and that recruit may only see PT limited to base running or warming up pitchers till their JR yr. That player says, Hey I played at ACC or SEC school _____. I wonder in the back of that girls mind, if she is thinking did I make the right choice.

Well boys here is you a big list of other coaches you can bash beside LLG.
You must now be officially behind the times. If a program puts a great plan together for their players and parents, THEN DONT HATE THE PLAYER HATE THE GAME!!!!!!!!! Haters will be haters and we will continue to teach our parents and players to listen to and use it for motivation. Your vicious hatred for the LLG only fuels us to be different than the "Good Ole Boy Network" Some things never change.
Congrats to all these great young players on this list of commits.
National level players have more advantages than the average level player.
    Enjoy reading this list.

well, I wasn't trashing you, i was talking in general....the discussion was about recruiting too early. one question though: just because someone else does it, does that make it right to do it also? Corn, you always make this about you, and its not....no one hates your organization and surely no one hates the players.....
