Lady Lightning Gold TEAM MIKEN earned a berth in the 2011 Premier Girl's Fastpitch 18HS National Championship by going undefeated at the PGF Indianapolis Qualifier this past weekend.

The Lady Lighting Futures earned a berth in the 2011 PGF 14U National Championship at the New Jersey Qualifier. They also earned a berth in the 2011 ASA 14U National Championship after winning the ASA NC state tournament, which they declined.

Congrats to the young ladies on both the 18HS and 14U teams and best of luck representing Carolina softball against the nation's best.

PGF plays high school rules. 7 inning games / no time limit in bracket play. International tie breaker starting in the 10th. The game vs. the Louisville Lady Sluggers was decided in the bottom of the 10th. The final game decided in the bottom of the 7th. Great softball games.

The Premier Nationals for all age groups is being held the same week in the same city, Huntington Beach, CA. Additionally, given the commitment of most of the major TB organizations in CA and around the county to PGF, the level of competition will be top notched. Hence, it's makes more sense for the organization to do PGF.

That is the way it should be done!! I wish some of these other money grubbing organizations would take a lesson from this.

It would be very difficult to get a weekend tournament done if you didnt use the clock. It has been this was for a long time, the clock at tournaments is not some new creation. Without time limits you would never know what time to come back to the ball field and any rain delay would ruin the tourney. Btw, I am not talking about the dropdead timed tournaments but rather the "no new inning started" after time expires.

It might be nice to see the final championship game played out though.
