With both teams tied for their conference lead, these two teams met for the second time this season. Their first meeting was Lake Norman winning a 1-0 home game.

This time they visited North Meck and were beaten 5-1. The score doesn't really tell the story of the game. I'll post some photos that will ( I hope) will tell the real story, both good and bad.

I'll start with the bottom of the first with two outs, Sarah (Boomer) Mooney, doubles to deep center followed by a booming home run again to deep center. This blast was by Jasmyn Lindsey to give North a 2-0 lead.

Next, one of the strangest plays I've seen in a long time, Lake Norman's cleanup hitter Dominique Wilson bloops a single between shot and left with bases loaded scoring two.

Lake Norman takes the lead 3-2, but wait, as I follow the hit to left and then follow the throw home. I now see, what I think is the runner that scored from second interfering with the catcher as the throw goes past her to the fence. It's not the runner but the batter who's right knee popped out leaving her at home plate in pain.

The ball is retrieved from the fence and thrown to first for the third out negating the two runs scored. North still leads 2-1. I did get the photo of her grimacing but it happened so fast I didn't notice until I edited the game photos.

Dominique was taken out of the game but was seen later jogging, so I'm guessing and hoping, she's OK!

    Lighter Side

On a lighter side, a different approach to catching a pop up to second by Lake Norman's Arin Hall.
